No question at all.... we were told early in the piece he wouldn't be back until rd 5 and it's not rd 5 yet.
Look, let's grab a sweaty, warm little handful of perspective here folks.
It's April. Traditionally, the time of year where those doyens of the desperate and dateless, Collingwood, claim the flag. This year, April is ours.
So far, nuthin' wrong with that. Personally, I fancy keeping my teeth and scoring a tad more heavily than two white flags being brandished but there's no room for the personal when you're chasing team prizes.
As for rising up from 6 wins to something respectable this year, perhaps a look at the state of things last year is worth some attention... turning over 1/3 of the list pre season, losing senior players left right and centre during the season to injury and a game plan to sort out.
In those circumstances, 6 wins is about right. Now, though... we have an almost injury free list in comparison. We have all those rookies blooded and to our collective delight, they're pretty much all frickin good at the business of playing the game, and our game plan appears to be a decent one.
I'm not running around flattening my nose on parked cars due to blind optimism here... I'm saying that it's not unreasonable to see us scorch into the 8 at years end with the smell of napalm in our nostrils and the idea of a 3 day pass in Saigon busting our elastic in anticipation.
Sure, all sorts of bad luck could happen and a wheel fall off. No worries with that, but for now, we rock. We've got a list with a healthy balance of youth and experience. We've got good guys off the park injured and we're winning without them. We're playing the right sort of game to win and, ladies... more than half the rest of the comp are a lot more crap than we are.
A shedload more.
I dunno about a flag... but there aren't many teams around who've claimed a cabin with a porthole for this trip and I recommend getting as much of that sea air into your lungs as you can.
Aaaaargggggghhhh
