Sandi's stamina
#301082
With all the deserved praise being placed on to the 1st gamers, let's not forget what a great game Sandi played.

clicky thing

"Interestingly, the code's biggest player, Dockers ruckman Aaron Sandilands (211cm and 122kg), rucked almost continuously for the first three quarters.

Particularly for a player of his size, he showed extraordinary stamina to play for 96 per cent of the game.

He had his first interchange rest when he was rotated off the ground 30 minutes into the third quarter".

That is a pretty amazing effort considering the role he plays.

You'd need a decent drop sheet then.

Before we get carried away, there's no way Sandi can play like that game after game. We'll probably be playing 25 or so games this season, and against harder ruck batteries (we won't get soft touches like Adelaide and West Coast every week), so he'll need serious back up sometime soon, and it's not going to come (yet anyway) from young Zac.

It was good to see Kepler getting some quality play in for the Cardies on the weekend. Expect to see him back in harness in the big circus before long, and don't be surprised, as he gets into his mid-20s, to see him improve on his very decent average of 15 disposals and 5 marks from last year. Mock him if you wish, but if we're to have the season we're suddenly dreaming of, my bet is that Kepler will play a significant supporting role along the way.

Zorro, while I commend your support of Kepler, I can't think of any other team in the competition where he would get a game.
Maybe Hawthorn at the minute could do with his rucking.

I saw his game on the tele against Subi on Saturday. He got 2 goals and had 10 kicks and 10 handballs. Some people say he was 'outstanding'. Give me a break.

Freo are far better playing Michael Johnson as a pinch-hit ruckman and using Sandilands judiciously against the opposition
number one ruckman. At least we get to play a running player instead of Kepler as the extra tall.

Kepler might prove handy in a few games here or there; but I just cannot see him in a Fremantle premiership side.

Hipless is a big unit.

There's a big unit clause in the development contract. He'll take a while to get there... so did Sandi. Wouldn't write him yet.
