Apparently the Pies could struggle offering him a fair deal to meet the salary cap.
Would he be worth considering or are we not too worried about getting defenders?

An average fringe player who looks good in a well organised team. A team which plays the same same way from start to finish regardless what the opposition is doing.
Incidentally why they didn't win two flags in a row- too one dimensional. I said they were vulnerable earlier in the season.

Na - I like the guy and I'd take him in a heartbeat (conditional).
If the Pies can't afford him then I'm pretty sure we couldn't either. We shouldn't be paying over the odds just because the guy has played in a premiership.
As for soft - he is a bit like that Puss in Boots character from shrek - big round eyes hiding a very shady character. A wolf in sheeps clothing for mine.
