He's a super player, a great finisher. A player who will do his best work when inside midfielders are doing their best work. His decline in form mirrors that of his team. What genuinely surprises is his age - only 25.
I would love to go to the footy and watch this guy play for Freo. I hope we do a deal for him.

Danyle Pearce is just like Steven Hill, he has the occasional good game but all the opposition teams know he can't handle a tag. It's well documented. Why would we want Pearce!!!

I was going to leave my post as that, yep,in deep blue, sorry, man purple,he would be great.

whose spot does he take?,The Muzz?,sorry, not for me,Hill?,Ha!(and I'm yet to be completely in man love with Hill,a serious man love yes, break that tag and hey, valentine card will be sent, sortof.)
well,i don't buy Ballentine and his hamsprings to the middle, not full time.(yes i said ham-springs-,you've seen him celebrate right?)
Maybe Mundy,*5 minute laughing fit*,nope.Barlow,Morra,Sandi oh yea,um,nope.
Can he be a shut down backman?,how about a replacement for the Genius?.Midsize forward?,Mayne to midfield?,Hmmmm.
Look,i like the idea, but i cant see the fit yet,in time,if hes good enough to compete for a spot, then fair enough, but this aint Poooorrrtt. No free rides for anymore anymore.
Please get him,but for S.F.A.,thanks.

Hang about. Who's the 20-yr-old who was sent into the middle, knowing he'd be tagged, who was told to figure out a way of breaking that tag (like it was some kind of moral test) and who did so without the support of a team-based strategy devised by the coaching staff?
Yup, no one.
Plus (warning: crazy question to follow), why would every other team in the comp tag Hill if he really were as second rate as would seem to be inferred by the fact he simply wasn't good enough to break a tag?
Stephen Hill is what every club wants: the guy who, if you clear enough space for him, will pass the ball to your forwards at each player's preferred latitude and longitude depending on the time of day, the venue and the season.
The task for the coaching staff is very clear and simple: figure out how to clear enough space for him.

If this is the spot where we bitch about folks who can't see the worth of Stephen Hill, then it may interest you to know that Mark Harvey had two regular whipping boys. Christopher Mayne and Stephen Hill. He'd light into them at the end of pretty much every game.
When Hill finally got up to speed after his crap pre-season, he started getting clear more often and started streaming into the forward fifty like we love, all sweet and ready to unload from his wicked left and then ... then he'd get the fear, look around and dish it off to some other schmuck.
Why?
Not because he'd been tagged.
Because he'd forgotten how to play.
Hilly will be right. Statues will be erected in his honour at the end of 2012.
As for Pearce, he's silly fast over the first five or so. And has skills. Are we all so keen on the doughty catch-and-kill-your-own types that we don't like that sort of thing any more?
As for more uses than Clark. He's not from East Fremantle.
