Fair enough GO, probably harsh terminology. How about capitalise on a brief stint of success that can be loosely attributed to himself?

Why have assistant coaches, if they don't actually coach at all?

They have their own areas to monitor and control under the umbrella of the head coaches directions.

It will be interesting to see how he gets on with Lyon who is not an easy man to work with apparently.
Suma is a fiery bloke himself.

Would love to know what has really gone on behind the scenes in the Eagles camp. Still feel very sorry about the way Mark Harvey was dumped but hopeful of the future for the Dockers.
Interesting how all the Eagles supporters have now gone right off Sumich in much the same way as they did with Judd. Fickle mob aren't they ?

Some guys fit right into the role of Senior Coach (Chris Scott for example) others are best suited to the supporting roles (E.g. Harvey - that's just my opinion, before someone fires up)
Rightly or wrongly a lot of emphasis is placed on senior coaches 'media friendliness' and it's a quality that gets a lot of them past the post into a senior job it seems.
I guess Sumich may posses the qualities to be a decent ass coach, (11 years in one job has got to count for something) but not so good at job interviews and press conferences that he never got a senior coach position himself.
I wish him luck. He'll have a lot of winning people over to do.

If, over the next 4 years, Ross Lyon turns Freo into a pathetic disjointed disillusioned rabble and in the course of doing so takes us to back to back grand finals I'll be very, very happy.

So, after 20 years as a player/coach with the Other Mob (give/take a couple with Souths), he figures Freo is really home because he lives down the road.
I reckon Sumich has been placed as a mole to feed info back on whatever Lyon comes up with - the part that's not so funny is that we'll be fronting up his salary.

Sumich will give his best for the Fremantle Football Club I'm sure. As will Ross (Rossco) Lyon. I'm not into conspiracy theories. I wish them the best because they are now part and parcel of the Dockers and I want them to be successful for the sake of all success starved supporters.

Suma always seemed to fill the role of the escapedgoat during his playing days despite being pretty successful. So I would give very little credence to what the Slime supporters think of him.

Could not give a flying wombat what the mob up the road thinks.
But surely Suma's appointment could make sense only inside a Dali painting. And I'm not denying the sincerity of his identification with 'Freo' (Slappo's on record, after all, as saying that if his house were on fire and he could save only one of the footy jumpers in his wardrobe, it'd be his Sth Freo league jumper); I just think it's got squat to do with this.
Suma's made it clear for a long time to everyone, including the teams on Mars, that he's available to be poached, and no one's poached him until now.
I really can't believe that Lyon spent 5 yrs at the Deaf Cheats secretly coveting Suma as an ass coach (I probably could have put that better), and so I'm discounting the possiblility that Lyon's come over here with a 'Get Suma!' agenda on his mind ... unless he's a big fan of Get Smart ... although even then it would be hard to explain Suma's appointment as the result of a miscommunication.
But if Lyon didn't drive this then you'd have to believe that Suma's been foisted on him, and Lyon doesn't strike me as the sort of bloke who's easily foisted upon. So does that mean he sees something in Suma that the Martians missed?
Stare at a Dali painting ... and then maybe the last 12 mths will make 'sense'.
Did I tell you I woke up this morning next to Marilyn Monroe?
Nice girl. Bit troubled, but nice.
