Give them pick 16 for clark no more than that or 38 and fringe player. If Griffin really wont's to go and god knows why get the best pick we can screw Port for then on trade for another back man or some one for the guts,Or we really have to try for Jaeger or C. Yarren.
(and i would only be giving loins pick 16 if another club like WC tries to shaft us).

The weagles have stepped up their bid to get Mitch Clark to West Coast. In a 3 way trade with Adelaide, Bris to get Tippett, Clark to weagles and Beau Waters/Shannon Hurn to Adelaide.

I don't understand this stuff about trading for players who are out of contract - at least not with the club they are leaving.

They go in the pre-season draft. We then may have to deal with clubs who have picks above us in the psd, to ensure that our preferred player is still there when our pick comes around.

I guess in Clarke's case, Brisbane have a pick before us, so maybe we do have to deal with them.....

Jezza- intesting trade deal, everyone gets to go home. That would be a good 3 way deal. But would the eagles give up Hurn, and or Waters?

Westerly- Mate that was a great post, some funny shit:D

We should make a play for both Mitch Clark and Jaeger.

Some options - 1.compo pick ontraded (from GWS 4 Palmer) and Duffield for Clark ( apparently Voss likes duffman ), and pick 16 and Griff for Jaeger.... 2. Griff and Duffield for Clark, 16 and compo pick for Jaeger -or switch that deal so its players to GWS ( who may appreciate some capable senior bodies ) and picks for Clark.

The 3 way the weakles are offering involves Brad Ebert according to this article, It also says we are expected to offer Zac Clark.

only thing in our favour is that Mitch wants to play for us and Ebert for Port

Madness. Clarke plus a draft pick for Clark? You would only do this if Zac is saying I don't want to be here now that Harvey has gone.

If we lose Zac we will regret it. He will be a fantastic player.

For Clark to be in a West Coast Jumper, they need to offer Bris/Adl more than what FREO can. Adl has ruled out Brad Ebert who wants to go to Port anyway. So unless they put up Hurn/Beau Waters, who are both Adl. boys up for trade, for a 3-way deal to happen, its difficult to see how Clark would end up at the other mob's door. Then again, this year is full of WTF over?

The toast won't give up Hurn and Waters. Hurn is the key to their long kick out of defence and Waters is pencilled in as their next captain.

We'll get Mitch, he's nailed his purple colours to the mast long ago.

That Fox article is hilarious.

As if Freo would give up Zac! And Adelaide to give up Tippet to get Ebert? Not likely.

Mitch will likely go to the highest bidder, either us or the rabble up the road. I doubt that he'd make a massive difference to our side, but it seems Harvey, Lyon and Voss are all big fans so he must be worth something. I'm not phased either way.

My tip

given that Port are second last Ebert is a clear choice to go to PA for their third pick as compensation on the last day of trade just as they lock the door.

Clark from Brissy will be a similar thing. we will get him for our second round pick probably if we just hold out for the end of trade week and if Mitch is clear that he wont go anywhere else. If we dont get him it is not a huge issue for mine. As we already have Zac Griff and Sandi for ruck and forward rotations.

I think the main thing to go looking for is hard bodied midfielders to provide some depth to our middle.

if we go back two years ago Pavlich was in the forward line and we had Morra, Barlow, Mundy, McPhee, Palmer, etc in there.

in reality we are likely to have Morra, Barlow, Mundy as our key middle maybe Morra and Fyfe alternate of a wing similar with Hill I guess. but ultimately we need somoene the size of goddard, Pavlich, Ling to go in there and shake it up. whether we can find someone like that would definately be interesting. and what would we give up.

Duffield i think is a required player. we have some young heads in defence and i think he is a older head that steadies the ship when our middle is up and going so he is not under so much pressure.

He is also a good middle player in a pinch and can push forward as well. I dont think trading him for anyone that doesnt fill that half back role would be a great idea cause we probably dont have genuine talented defenders hanging around in droves.

anyway just my thoughts.

if we come out of trade week with two or three good midfielders that play hard I would be happy.

look for Gold coast to trade for one or two mid 20s as well to give them some bigger bodies this year. but what they will be offering probably doesnt give us much.
