Hows this for a discrepancy on Viv Michie -
AFL Phantom Draft:
Utility with the ability to take a mark and kick a goal. He's not blessed with pace, but he more than gets by with his ability to read the ball and find space, in the manner of Nick Dal Santo. The occasions when he floats across a pack to take a mark are an aesthetic pleasure.

FFC Website : "He's another really good kick that we're bringing into the footy club. Viv plays the high half-forward role and has good speed, marks the ball well and has good nous around goal. I'm really glad to get him."

Is he fast or slow??? Are they they talking abou the same player?

Yeah, I noticed that too. Somewhere else, on the draft day tracker AFL.com page Michie is referred to as 'lightning fast'

If Mitchie is a lightening fast Del Santo we've got ourselves a super player. Here's hoping.

Interesting additional info on the FFC website:
"Jayden played at 68-69kg this year so there won't be huge expectations on him."

A bit lighter than I have seen him listed as on other sites ... this boy needs to be fed.

Also this article - he sounds like he was expecting to go to GC

Yeah, that Dal Santo was one dark, heavy and sombre dude. Glad someone told him to "Lighten Up!"

The bloke who did the Phantom draft descriptions on afl.com this year wasn't Matt Burgan who's been doing it previously. I think the Dal Santo comparison comes from a player profile done before the draft in the players own words when they get asked 'which player would you compare yourself to?'. Viv Michie was a St Kilda supporter.

I'd be just as happy if he was a taller version of Mark Mecuri.

All three recruits look like great kicks in their videos, except for the bit Mellington when kicks a goal on his right foot.

I get the impression that Freo have 'drafted for the future' this year.

Expect to see Mazungu, Faulks, Griffen and Anthony (?) getting a game or two in 2011 while the 3 draftees having the luxury of 1 or 2 years to bulk up and continue to develop their games.

The Dockers squad is the strongest it has been for a number of years. It is now time to consolidate on all the ground work Harv's and Co. have done over the last couple of yeras.

Mellington only turns 18 on 29/12/10 so bit of luck he's still growing and 187cm tall becomes 190+

What I like about our recruiting the last few years is that we have a lot of mids who can play forward (and vice versa forwards who can play mid) and kick goals. Compare this to the Weagles who have many mids that are no threat to goals.

I don't think I'd bother comparing anything to West Coast.
