The AFL gave him permission to play for the Gold Coast on the proviso that they draft him with one of their first picks.

It's something to do with their age.

I think Swallow was too young at the time for them to take him with their under-aged picks. Matera would have been born in early 1992 while Swallow was born in late 1992.

Easts do it pretty well - no arguments there... though up at Bombo Valley we are working to close the gap - getting 4 rising Star nominations this year was a solid effort!

East Fremantle had for many years the best metropolitan zone of all the Clubs as well as the lucrative Geraldton area where many of their players have been drafted from.
