Yeah, that would be better, but there's already a state cricket team and a NRL team with the same name. You probably don't want an expansion AFL team in GWS to share a name with an NRL team.

With Bogans, you can then get rid of the "greater western" part. Sydney Bogans is an instant reference to the western suburbs. Add a mullett for the logo, flannel shirt colouring. Training jumper to feature a pocket in the sleeves for the ciggies.

Unless I'm mistaken, people in Sydney tend to refer to bogans as 'Westies', so that probably wouldn't work. Although, using a nickname only common in another state didn't seem to hold people back when they were coming up with nicknames for Freo.

Sydney here ... bogans/westies - same thing!!
Personally, I call them the Blacktown Bogans.
It's catchy, and pretty much sums it up.
I hate them already.
It's killing me - I can't decide who I hate most.
Collingwood; the West Coke Criminal Budgies; or the Blacktown Bogans.

What flabergasts me are swans MEMBERS who say they'll buy a membership to the bogans as well - in the name of "keeping AFL alive in NSW", and "I just love footy too much and I can see footy every weekend live". Blah blah blah blah blah.

Give it a few derbies, AnnieH (or darbies as I assume the locals will go with). Some people are slow to catch on but most get their in the end.
