I'd rather see a fully fit Barlow in late 2011 than take any risks with a early season start. I'm glad the club seems to have the same view - no rush, just get it right.

I'll start by saying i don't know what i am talking about, Tragic. But does it being a clean break make any difference to the research you posted up?

A "clean break" is better in the sense that it is not comminuted (A fracture in which the bone has broken into a number of pieces)and it is a "closed fracture" (open fractures involve wounds that communicate with the fracture and thus expose bone to contamination. Open injuries carry a higher risk of infection.) I imagine the study I referenced, had injuries from car crashes and skiing accidents and would had included worse prognosis injuries than Michael Barlow's.
That Michael Barlow's fracture was closed, not comminuted and that he received immediate appropriate treatment (stabilisation of the fracture, ice to the wound), that there have been no reported complications and that he appears to be complying with a well structured rehab programme would all be good prognostic signs.

A little birdie told me the club has invested heaps of $$$ into some localised pressure chamber machine that they're using to get Barlow's leg right. The talk is it cost around a cool mill or so but its working a treat.

Like most wives I don't even bother asking my husband. But I'll ask him once he's finished cleaning the bathrooms.

The bathroom is sparkling Ralph.

He'll be back for round 1.

Love and Kisses,

Your husband

Cut it out Flyke. My husband would never venture his own opinion without checking. But the bathrooms are spotless.

And he said round 7, right after the break. What a coincidence.

Round 7 ??? !!!

Ralph,

My husband is a bit disappointed with your husband's prediction and wants me to tell you to tell your husband that Mikey Barlow is not a normal human Being. His recovery should not be measured on the same recovery timeline as other mere mortals.

He says "Round 1 - 25 disposals, round 28 - 1 Norm Smith Medal, end of story".

Our bathroom is rather filthy though, so I can't guarantee, it's an accurate prediction.
