Ultimately, the whole supporter group, the 40 odd thou members should be made to feel a big part of the club. To bring in such big changes, so underhandedly, treating members with disdain, makes the slogan "we are the club's edge" sound hipocritical.

I read thru some of my Docker mags from this year, see the "edge" referrals to us and cant help but feel like i've been cheated and lied to.

The huffing and puffing of Freo supporters is terrible. Sure, some having differing views and ideas, but whoever is in charge of the club (not the playing group - eg Harves and co.) should go.

I have let it be known to the club I will not renew until only one Steve remains, that Hill.

I wont be "bought off" with a signed Chevy jumper to sweeten my feelings on the marketing change.

I have spoken to a club employee in recent days and he said "the feedback is prob 50/50 about liking the jumper/logo.

Its not like we follow a supermarket and dont care about image changes. We all like to feel like we belong to this tribe. As someone wrote above, what was wrong with 40, 000 members wearing the current gear, with the Wharfie logo. Our "club" was making money, so why affect the whole tribalism of us supporters?

Larkin, so what is the "compromise" on offer. A lot of this mess can be repaired, because if this is all handled appropriately then our "love" of the club could be even stronger, bigger, better.

Who honestly thinks everything will be alright after we belt the Lions in Round 1 next year wearing the Chevrons. I dont think we will forget.

I will say this says something about the implemented changes. That out of everyone I know and I go out of my way to talk "Dockers" with people. Only two loves/prefers the new jumper. And one likes the new logo.

Out of the two. One has emailed the "club" for 2011 memberships as a result. Heard the ticket was nearly 600 bucks, so probably cant afford to join. The other loves the new jumper as much as the old.....was given the Chevron jumper for his bday last week. But is not renewing his membership as he thinks he will prefer to just stay home and become a tv supporter.

50/50 gover. Interesting. If they'd gone for the 'Haze' jumper and either left the wharfie as is or removed his red and green I dare say the numbers would be looking a whole lot better than that. The jumper might last a few years, but I can't see the logo staying in it's current form for long at all. If not the end of 2011, by the end of 2012 I can see a complete overhaul to something that is at least respectable ,doesn't involve altered desk stationery and uses a font that's not from a 1980's computer.

As for memberships, I won't be renewing mine while the Steve's are around either gover. Not really sure I'll be that interested in turning up to the games either and I certainly won't be travelling interstate (after doing all 4 non-Melbourne games and 3 or 4 games in Perth in 2010). Footy is cheap here in Melbourne - I can go and see whoever I want and get a decent seat for $20 on game day. That's a whole lot cheaper than a membership.

50/50 eh?

Who did they ask, and what were the questions?

Did they do a survey?

Was it as 'rigourous' as the last one?

Speaking to the guy in the Subiaco shop, apparently the freshnewboldlook is 'more professional'.

When I stared at him in disbelief, he muttered a few things which led me to form several conclusions. First, he's towing the corporate line and second, he has no idea what 'professional' means. Neither do the greeves apparently.

I can't remember been asked if I do or don't. Its like TV ratings, it's a made up figure. I can't remember ever being asked if I do or don't watch Home and Away. I don't know of anyone who has been a ratings tool. Im happy that the Steves didn't go with the name The Perth Fremantle Dockers. Maybe in the future.

It's on the cards... once you start the whole new fad game, you have to keep coming up with them.

Exactly Guy. People say that we've only existed since '94, so we aren't losing that much history. To me, the change is a sign that we will never have history as far as our jumper is concerned. Does anyone really think the Chevrons will be around for 100 years? What could possibly be next?

The anchor and the colour purple were to me the 'non-negotiables' (the red and green were 'how-dare-you-change-them-but-eventually-I'll-get-over-itables'). Hell, if they had beefed up the paperclip logo and placed it in the middle of the jumper I might have been ok with it, as it narrowly sneaks into my 'purple with an anchor' criteria. Sure, it would have been a bit of a Carlton rip-off, but the Chevrons are rippling off a million other sporting teams. But that's only my criteria, and I'm not so egocentric to assume that everyone else thinks the same way, or that they are wrong for thinking differently.

That's why the steves needed to operate in a more transparent way, and had some real member input.

50/50 is a terrible result.

Half of your supporters couldn't care less, and the other half are really really peeved.

50/50 is a complete cop out. That means they are hurting on the feedback front.

Can't understand their thinking - if they'd just put it out there as the NAB Cup Jumper, then no-one would have given a damn. Then they still would have got the same market sales from those who liked it, and then if the sales figures were good through the season, raised it with members and supporters as an alternative for the purple haze game, and so on and so on.

With the new format NAB Cup, perfect opportunity to throw in a new "bold" jumper design and see how it was received. But the complete switch in one hit is just nuts.

Pitchforks and torches are what we need.
Off with their heads!

There was a post a few pages back comparing the way the changes have been done to shopping hours. Which is true to some extent (i.e. underhand methods), but when you really look at it, it doesn't stack up at all.

I voted against extended trading (actual people have to work in the stores, not machines; imagine if the average nine-to-fiver had to work until 9 and on sundays?) but the fact that they have still changed it doesn't worry me too much.

Why not? Because, to put it simply, I don't care about trading hours that much at all.
On the other hand, I would argue that nothing is more emotionally conncted to and invested in by people than an Australian football club, with two exceptions: european soccer clubs (we haven't had any death threats to Rosich... yet), and family.

So let's make a comparison to family. It's awful losing your identity in both cases. Imagine if you had a sudden but unnecessary witness protection program-esque move and name change sprung on you by your parents overnight... wouldn't go down too well. Or how about a divorce - in this case, we see the Steves, by their actions, attempting to divorce the club from its supporters, identity and history.

Anyways, my point is that I care... and because of that, I'm bloody ropeable about the whole business that has gone on thus far.
