They must have been whipped up by Samantha Stevens.

It's already been said and put to bed.

Some people care about the symbols that have been part of this club since they started.

Others don't.

To suggest those that do care, long for a return to the days of Clive, and all the tragi-comedic tomfoolery that was part of that era, is absolute tosh.

And it's the sort of argument the steves would use.

As already said, Freo innovated stuff in the game. They might not have had the cattle to make it work, but plenty of other teams saw it, copied it, and did.

All that stuff is as part of the anchor as Clive running around aimlessly impersonating a full forward with a clue.

One thing they would love to copy but don't know how, is how to gel a group of supporters together so firmly, they can become one in a stadium, and cheer and chant their team off the field after being embarrassed and dacked in the first final they ever scraped into.

That's next to impossible to orchestrate at corporate level through marketing and slogans. But dead easy to stuff up.

what's all this about coconuts? this is more interesting than anything steve related.

the only shame about all of this is we are not a club. otherwise it would be all over by now.

Well you'd better watch out, rooboucher, because the way things are going you might be getting a homeless, soulless crowd called something like the 'Dockers Football Club'. Notice how marginalised 'Fremantle' now is? With these bastards at the helm, don't blink or you might miss it go.

I've been marginalized categorized and vilified recently. Even told to "fark off back to Dockerland!" by other less despicable supporters.
I told all it was free speech and to Get Over It.
I know their names too!
I may not be nuts but they've made me mad!!

Bet I could name the site and three names to go with it based on those comments. I got the same thing.

Very strong anti-dockerland sentiments in some parts. I suspect they are slimers pretending to be Freo supporters

I'm going to write a post that I know will get deleted so I can go back to BigFooty and complain about how all my posts get deleted.

Yes there was limited consultation with the members concerning the changed to the jumper and logo and those who are upset about the process have contacted the club and noted their displeasure on the Dockerland website. Further they will get their chance to highlight this at the AGM on Wednesday 24 November 2010. Can I ask the question if there had been consultation with the members and it was about 50/50 (which seems the case) on whether the changes should proceed and the decision was to proceed would we have all moved on.

I am a East Fremantle supporter and was a member when they changed their jumpers and emblem from “Old Easts” to the “Sharks”. The team colours stayed the same but it was a decision based on sponsorship and marketing and as far as I recall it was not put to the members, some which were upset, it was a board decision. This is confirmed from an article I found on the internet concerning the history of this great club. Following is a quote from this article:

“In 1983 the Western Australian club with arguably the richest tradition of all took the drastic measure of divorcing itself to some extent from that tradition by adopting a new emblem, that of the arch predator of the sea, the shark. It was felt by the newly expanded club board that the introduction of this emblem would render the club more attractive to potential sponsors at a time when the sponsorship dollar was becoming increasingly critical to achieving and maintaining success.”

Another interesting fact, though the team colours have stayed the same, the jumper designed has varied over East Fremantle’s 112 year history.

I believe the Fremantle Football Club will learn from this experience and hopefully not make the same mistake again. I do not think they will publicly acknowledge this but it will be noted again that we have a very passionate supporter base that want to be involved in decisions that effect on how we see the team. So lets all be one and support our team and embrace each other opinions.

Finally I like the old and the new jumpers. If the new jumpers stay I would like to see our old home jumper as our heritage jumper.

Never heard of this East Fremantle mob... must be another of those nondescript soul-less entities dotting the footy landscape, wearing whatever suits the occasion and loudly proclaiming their excellence to anyone who'll listen.

I did find a piece of history though.

Here’s your chance to own a piece of Fremantle Football Club history.

Available for auction is a selection of Fremantle players’ 2010 match-worn and personally signed clash playing jumpers.

they haven't learnt a thing... and they won't, I bet.

The signs were bad early on last year, when FFC started selling framed posters of Mr Barlow at CEO prices, when it was suddenly recognised by all and sundry the bloke could play a bit.

The speed with which they rolled these things out reminded me of Ritchie, Wedgwood spittoons and gold plated Gollies. Mmmmarvelouss.

I remember feeling a tad guilty when that Barlow poster was announced in a thread here and my response was 'Rosich'.

Bugger it. I hate wasted guilt.
