If we want to take him we will need to pass on pick 73 to still have 1 spot available.
If another club picks him before us, our squad will either be 1 short or we have to take best remaining crab. Not sure if Ruffles could be re-drafted in the PSD if this eventuated.
If we remain 1 short, it would probably allow Pearce to be elevated straight away, and therefore we are only a rookie short.
Jacks best value to us may be as this years nominated escaped goat.

Jack Anthony will be selected by Freo in the PSD.
He will play forward in 2011, if he earns a spot, because Michael Johnson will return to the backline to replace Tarrant (in a round about way).
Anthony's place on our list will become even more apparent if there are any setbacks with Michael Barlow's recovery, forcing Pavlich into the midfield for a prolonged period of time.

Trading and drafting is about risk versus reward. I'm not sure what the reward in signing JA will be - if i were to guess I would say he would add depth our squad which is a little light for KPP - but we lose very little in getting him.
I can't see any reason not to get him.

He's a footballer - if he can add 30 goals + per year, good. If he can spoil or feed the ball into the midfield consistently, good. If he can add a bit of agro and a half decent frown for the umpies, good. If he's got some girlfriend homesick for café lattés au laît on Smith Street, tough - get her a bucket of chips, a packet of ketchup, a tinnie of Emu's finest and plunk her on the pine.
Give him a go, see what he comes up with - if it goes pear shaped just dump him with the Black Ducks and call up Josh Roberts.

Slammen say's , How many dockers forwards have kicked 50 goals in a season ?
Even Medhurst couldn't get a game with Collingwood last year !
He's better than Murphy has ever been.
He wasn't good enough to play in Collingwoods grand final team but he's only 22 and has plenty to prove to the people that didn't play him.
Let's welcome him with open arms and save the sarcasm until he decides to leave.

Why are people so sceptical about this?.A big strong,proven AFL goalkicker for nothing and the moaning and complaining continues.Give the guy a chance before you start bagging him.Smokey proved himself,as did Kepler and no doubt so will JA.

It's been some time since our recruiting staff made a clanger and they've got some massive credits in the bikky tin. Reckon I'm prepared to trust their judgement on this one too. There's a few reasonable rejects floating around, but at least he's over here having a crack. Good on him.
