I just get the feeling that being on the board is something to spruce up a persons corporate resume rather than a chance to represent the actual fans

I usually sit and read this but this discussion has spurred me on to register and reply.
I do assume that some of you on here will ridicule my comments. Happy with that. you seem to do it on a regular basis.
I am a payed up member and have no desire to run for the board, unlike the 13 that have nominated and for that they should be congratulated. Not ridiculed.
I do not know who i will vote for yet. But i do have some idea.
I know that many people hate the jumper. I was one of the few "thousand" that was canvased on the jumper and my comments were that i like the purple and white infact the clash jumper is what i stated. I feel the white on purple (purple haze) and the clash jumpers were the best... Hate me for that. Fine.
As far as a barometer. Simply dont buy the jumper if you dont like it. I wont. As Gary L stated. it has happened before with the WCE and look how quickly they dropped the orange jumpers a few years ago....
A few good comments by most candidates
Lets vote buy not updating our memorabilia next year I say...
Ask constructive questions of the candidates. Wait for intelligent answers. These people are voted by us for us

Accept the jumper change as a positive thing, a fresh modern look that embraces the short yet proud heritage. The club should not stand still. The change is about many things, Marketing and financial considerations are just a part of the reasons and they are also a fact of life. Deal with it!. I loved the old jumpers and the anchor. I believe the new logo and jumpers are fantastic. My vote is for progress while retaining tradition, my vote is to retain Kate

So far in the posts or recommendations for the Members Director (sounds a bit obscene) there appears to be just two worth a vote, perhaps just one. Sorry Gary, I like some of your comments, but you still sound a bit of an apologist for apathy and inaction in the members interest when push comes to shove.
Oh for one nominee to announce a commitment to a membership review of the Steve Decision next year. In fact why not push for a performance review of the heirachy. Let's give the Steve's and the Board a report card, like the players get. On that basis, even Dodd performed better last year than both the Steve's.
SS sounds familiar, definitely non democratic. Tell them to eff off up the road again. They're out of place, touch and in the wrong club.

Wedgy, you comment that the freshnewbold look represents a short tradition and is a move forward. At the same time ridicule those who oppose the change cause 'they must live in the past, never left WA etc etc etc" in my case wrong on all counts. The freshnewbold jumper is a rehas of an old old WAFL/VFL/RL jumper and is somewhat of a mongrel as a result. The Logo is a joke/choker around the players necks. The process was seriously flawed in it's implementation.
Do you support the Budgies against eastern states teams?
Have you realised it's a club competition yet?
Have you realised that the owners of the club are compromised by their ownership of our bitter rivals?
Have you looked at the Levis Strauss Dockers reBrand?

There's no need to raise merch sales by a wholesale change of the jumper/logo. It's done every year, with changing sponsors and subtle changes in design (and less subtle for t-shirts, caps etc). This happens at Collingwood too - but unlike us, they don't throw away what's important to them.
Wedgy - progress while retaining tradition? NO tradition has been maintained.
How about we progress with the new designs and retain the old tradition of losing.
And don't dare tell us to 'Deal with it'. Not all of us are sheep like yourself.

Why the hell should I be wedgeyed into accepting a fresh modern look that embraces a short but proud heritage, when that heritage belongs to a different club from a long time ago?
The teams short, but proud heritage stretches to 1994. And there wasn't a chevron in sight. Or a steve.
You can deal with it, as you sound the sort of bloke that swallows spin and buzzwords like War on Crime and Zero Tolerance. Baaa.
Is collingwood standing still while it wins flags, yet refuses to change its gear?
You only need to progress when something is stuck. On field that isn't the case. In the admin, some things are definitely stuck up something else.

What about the footy decisions they've made...eg coaches, recruiting, fitness/development departments etc
Any thoughts on that? Anyone?
Looks a bit Freo to me...you know, the bit of Freo that likes to win occasionally

You are probably mistaking the winning thing because now we look like the Melbourne Storm.

So funny that lambchops isn't a sheep.
This is all getting a bit tiresome. I'd suggest that you are a sheep, just that at the moment you've got your wolf's clothing on.
Thanks to the candidates for contributing.
I'm still hanging out for my paperclip baseball cap.
