TOPIC: Board Nominees

Hi Walter the baker,

The recent changes have all come at once. Mr recollection is that there were some surveys done on the jumper and purple was strongly favoured, the logo was a big surprise! I am happy we can use "Dockers' now but Im worried about the port heritage remaining strong. In terms of the song - Im open but would like to see wide member consultation on it. Kate from what I have heard has been a good board member and Gary is right about the director responsibilities. Not sure what you are asking Kate in partucular but if I had been in the chair, I would have wanting to see the level of consultation that had occured and the overall strategy

Yes, I agree in a modern corporation the directors' responsibility is primarily to the shareholder.

Don't we have around 40,000 of those? Or do we only count the ones that have really deep pockets?

Me, I'm done with this member elected lark. I've seen no benefit for members, so I can't see why I'd bother voting for anyone. FDFC is not a democracy, so the entire process seem pointless.

I would vote for lemon though, because he wouldn't get anything done. He'd run on that promise, and I think he actually has in the past. That's honesty right there.

Well Tony you've certainly comprehensively addressed all of the concerns in that post.

Which survey in partucular do you recollect as an endorsement of changing the playing jumper?

lemon, my life is cursed by gary/garrys. They should all forfeit the r/rrs in their name and make do with the remaining letters. Because it is.

The issue of the member elected board member has become very confused by talk of the Corporations Act and director's duties. I will be very surprised, nay amazed, if Kate Grieve and the other member elected board member are directors of Fremantle Football Club Limited (ACN 066 055 249).

I am so sure that I don't need to pay for an ASIC search of Fremantle Football Club Limited (ACN 066 055 249) which would show me the current directors & shareholders (or for a little more I could pay for a "current & historical extract" which would show me current and past directors & shareholders). So there's no need for me to go to an information broker's website (such as www.dnb.com.au/express) and use may credit card to pay for the search (about $30) and have it delivered to me almost instantly via email.

The point is that only those directors listed as such with the ASIC owe any directors duties under Corps Law or otherwise.

Boorih and Gary goodluck, if you win you will soon know what it feels like to be Peter Garret

PurpleNic, I know Sonia Sain very well. She has experience and is not reluctant to express her views. For me, she's getting my vote.

To be fair, Kate is a friend, too. But I can't back her after these changes to the logo and jumper were foisted upon us.

I wouldn't know the other candidates if I swam over them in the drip tray.

Kate is a Director of Fremantle Football Club Limited.

www.womenonboards.org.au/boardroom/cs/grieve.htm

There are two ways of becoming a Director of FFC Limited:
1. You get a phone call from a head honcho at WAFC sounding out you interest in taking up a Board appointment. There are 6 of these shareholder appointed Directors.

2. You nominate for an election as a member-elected Director - there are two of these.

I didn't get a phone call from the WAFC, and most likely the other 12 contenders also did not get the phone call. So we have all opted for the alternate pathway as a member-elected Director.

All the Directors (other than the Chairman/Pres) would rank equally on the Board, just the method of appointment varies.
