The Dockerland Bump

As has been mentioned on this site, the member-elected board member elections are coming up, and I'm wondering whether there's any way to maybe give one candidate 'The Dockerland Bump'. Perhaps we (and by 'we' i mean 'shane') could organise to have our own vote on who will represent this site in the elections. Then we all vote for that person. I mean, no-one will be bound, but strategically it gives us the best chance of having someone from this place who gets to have a say (for whatever that's worth). If successful, the person wouldn't be able to post here anymore, but knowing who contributed to them getting elected, they would surely read posts to get a sense for the mood of the fans.
I'm aware that there's an argument that this site doesn't represent the view of all fans, but even if that were the case, the club formerly known as the FFC has clearly shown that in the business of football, there's no such thing as a democracy.
And you know what they say: The Dockerlanders united will never be defeated.
Thoughts?

Yes this site would only represent 1/75th of members views so i would not take views too seriously

Exactly how do you arrive at 13% ? Most people prefer less than 10% or over 90% depending which side your on.

10% for people Lockyer doesn't agree with and 3% for people who agree with Lockyer.

When did the ludicrous idea get about that democracy meant consensus? (The scary thing is that people infected with this 'idea' actually get to vote, and not just in matters relating to football clubs.)
It isn't democracy, but totalitarianism, that holds consensus as an ideal.
So if, say, Dockerland does indeed represent a special interest, how could that be used to accuse Dockerland of being 'undemocratic' for not representing the views of some alleged majority?
Democracy is ALL about the representation of special interests.
It would be entirely democratic, therefore, if a candidate for FDFC's upcoming election were to run on a platform of representing the views not of some imagined 'general' set of Freo fans, but the specific views of those who subscribe to Dockerland (assuming we could agree on what those views were).
Nothing could be more democratic than that.
The democratic problem arises only when you consider that, with no more than two member-elected positions on offer, the FDFC board CANNOT represent enough special (if also sometimes competing and conflicting) interests.
It isn't Dockerland that's 'unrepresentative' or 'undemocratic', but the FDFC board.
In other words, Lockyer, you're talking out your anus.

There seems to be a definite anti-change mood here on DL however other sites and FFC facebook page seem to be far more receptive to the new logo and jumper.Just an observation...

Dockerland doesn't 'represent' people's views, it provides a platform for them to be aired.
If we go through the recent history of elected board members, we have Kate Grieve, who got elected because firstly, she wasn't Dave Garic, and secondly, the exposure she had from Dockerland. Ben Allan who wasn't even challenged the last time he came up for election, because his profile is undefeatable. Then we have Dave Garic, who got on the board because the MOB backed him in.
That's how these things work - and not just at Freo, but at all real football clubs where members get a say. Like minded people who can create a strong enough profile are the one's who make it in. So who's our 'Kate' in this election?

roddi, it has already been noted that FDFNBFC facebook page has been removing dissenting views. Try putting one on and see how long it lasts.

Democracy is for pussies. It's easy to manipulate and eradicate. Basically it is over rated - and little more than a tool for those who run the place anyway. Take a look at Obama - he's a brand. And brand Obama is no better than the last monkey. What is valuable is human rights, real historial logos, songs and four docker colours. Dunno anything really about Pants but we liked her is the past (I think) but that other fellow couldn't even publicly back us in a final (he should resign)- so I won't be voting for him. You can only judge someone on what they have done in the past but we shouldn't try to tell them what to do in the future.
