Apparently there were a whole bunch of people outraged that Fremantle hadn't changed the jumper and the logo. You didn't hear about it, Wizfan, because they were they were keeping completely silent about it. Such was their outrage it struck them mute.

Also because you read and post on Dockerland, which is in no way representative of a wider group of Fremantle supporters as it is costly, has very few visitors and is extremely difficult to access.

At last count there was 73076 fringe dwelling extremist non representative of the broader supporter base types who will stand opposed to any form of progress or change.

I wouldn't even be dignifying their whining with a response, FreakyFreo.

I like the fact that Morgan got a 'Dear Dean' letter. It would inspire significantly less dread than a 'Dear John' letter (which was kind of appropriate in many ways), but also tells us that good ol' Solly dished up a serve to the Steves about the chevron thing.

Thanks for the reminder, Shane. I keep forgetting that for the past 16 yrs everything associated with the club has been a massive source of embarrassment to the majority of the fan base.

We've had supporters all over the world waiting for a CEO to come along with the guts to change everything, so the oppressed masses could come out of the closet and barrack for Freo without having to apologise for it.

New Yorkers, I hear, are going ape shite for the chevrons ... and some bloke in Yokine has put in an order for a paper clip.

Guess us losers on DL will just have to learn to live with it.

You can't fight progress ... or people who get fat end-of-yr bonuses.

GAP has just shown how to respond to customer protests over logo changes.

if a proper consultation of FFC members were to take place, would the outcome be accepted by all? majority rules being the ultimate guideline of ANY change? notwithstanding the inevitable grumblings from those in the minority would everyone put any changes to jumper/logo/song behind them and accept and support the new images that represent our footy club?

after all is said and done, surely the 22 blokes that go to battle are the ones that count most to us, not what they wear or sing.

Good link Old Owl, in the normal world you would expect normal people to react normally to what normally would be the right thing to do.

notpav, if a proper consultation of FFC members HAD taken place, I doubt there would have been a problem with any of the proposed changes; some sadness, perhaps, but not the anger that has ensued. The problem is that it didn't take place and it is now too late. Any consultation will involve loss of face by FFC (and that won't be tolerated) and if the loss of the logo, colours etc are reversed then that would lead to triumphalism by those of us who oppose the changes. The point is that it is too late. Salt has been spread over fertile ground.

On a very personal level, I liken it to the discovery that one's spouse is "playing away": no, it's not the end of the world; forgiveness can follow; but things will never be the same again; the trust is gone and the dreams are faded.

And as for the "22 blokes that go into battle", remember that they didn't choose Fremantle Football Club: it chose them. Very different from members and supporters, who chose the club for themselves. Those players will move on (a la Tarrant) to other clubs; supporters do not.
