My reply from club regarding the jumpers

I finally got this reply after sending them the same email 4 times!
Thank you for your email, my apologies you have not yet received a response.
We respect the right of our members and supporters to express their feelings on such matters.
There has been a level debate on some fan sites and elsewhere about the changes to our jumper and logo. This is a reflection of the passion that our members and supporters have for our club.
There has been debate about whether or not our members were consulted about the changes.
Almost for as long as the club’s existence our logo, jumper and song have been the subject of much debate…and indeed at times derision.
Regardless of that background, in September 2008, the club advised that it would be undertaking a review of its brand elements, including the name Fremantle Dockers, its logo and jumper.
A significant aim of the review was to investigate the possibility of establishing a new arrangement with Levi Strauss & Company over the use of the name “Dockers”.
Along with face-to-face interviews with a range of stakeholders, including supporters attending Fremantle home games at Subiaco, more than 2900 members took part in online survey in May 2009 about our logo, jumper and other aspects of our brand elements.
The survey was just one part of the review carried out by consultants engaged by the club.
The decision that led to our new logo and jumper was not something that was done lightly or on an ad hoc basis.
The Fremantle Football Club has a board and management team that has been entrusted to run the club and make timely and appropriate decisions.
Our board comprises an outstanding array of people with expertise across the commercial, sport, marketing and legal fields and includes two member-elected directors.
The board oversees a senior management team that it has the upmost faith in to make sure that every decision they make is in the best interests of the club for its future success both on and off the field.
In the cool light of day, we believe that the majority of members and supporters will agree that the board and senior management team have done exactly that in arriving at where we are today with our new logo and new jumper that will take us into the future with a strong and bold look.
Thank you again for your feedback on this matter.

"A significant aim of the review was to investigate the possibility of establishing a new arrangement with Levi Strauss & Company over the use of the name “Dockers”."
I would like them to expand on this in light of Zorro's recent conspiracy thread.
Did we just align the logo of our footy club with the Levi jean company in exchange for use of the word Dockers?

Dockergirl, you and everyone else who has emailed the club on numerous occasions have received this very same reply - albeit maybe under different signatures. Obviously they couldn't think of something different to write to you by the time they'd received the first three, so you got the standard 'Dear John' by your fourth!

Hmm, now where have I read this before ... You'd think that after a week of writing this letter out so many times to so many people, the writer would have realised that the word is "utmost" not "upmost". I know this is not really important, but I don't trust illiterates to make important decisions. As Mr Orwell said, "Woolly language leads to woolly thinking."

I think the next time I hear the word BOLD in connection with this jumper I am going to be sick. It was ALL he could do to NOT say fresh. And I bet that's only cos they spy on here.
And they STILL didn't make it clear what the RESULTS of the survey was and WHY they ACTUALLY decided to change it. Just said that, they wanted the name docker, the board decided it and that we'd all live with it!
Still no real explanation!

Funny, when I did the survey 2 years ago I don't recall the question being:
"WE ARE REVIEWING OUR UNIFORM AND LOGO AND WOULD LIKE YOUR ASSISTANCE. ON A SCALE OF 1 - 10 PLEASE GIVE US YOUR OPINION ON THE FOLLOWING GUERNSEYS AND LOGOS. ONCE WE HAVE YOUR OPINIONS WE WILL ASSESS YOUR RESPONSES AND PUBLISH THEM ON OUR WEBSITE IN 8 WEEKS."
I'm sure if these bone-heads had worded the damn survey that way they would have received a much, much different response!

Not than I'm an OldOwl (or something)...but Matto, no need to hyphenate 'boneheads' - in grammatical terms it is not a relative clause but a defining one.

This sums it up right here. The jumper and the logo were derided by knobbers that don't matter. It's obvious the Steves were too precious to handle the slings and arrows of their Eagle supporting mates, and wanted to rate high in Herald Sun surveys.
Derision? Grow some backbone you weak pricks.

Can I add to the whinge and mention that I haven't received a reply to my strongly worded email to the FDFC?
Very, very disappointed...
