Start of 2010: 38 on the list, Grover on the Veteran, 7 rookies.
- Solomon, Thornton, Hase, DJ, Taz, Hall
= 32, 1 & 7
+ Faulks, Griffen, Mzugnu
= 35, 1 & 7
Barlow and Silvagni will be 2nd year, all the others (DeBoer, VB, Pearce, Shepherd & Sibo) will be 3rd year. We could leave them all on the rookie list and not have to delist anyone.
I just read that rookie elevations DO count in the compulsory three picks, (
And in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft, elevated rookies will be counted as a compulsory selection.) so we could elevate three of them and not delist or draft anyone at all... not that that would be a good thing.
We've got 18 days to wait to see how many of the Dodd/Murphy/Schammer types get released (I know about contracts... but since when has an AFL contract actually meant anything?) or at the other end Bucovaz or BOB, to see how many rookies they elevate. Of course the fewer rookies elevated, the higher the chance of being in the "can't play who we really want to play" situation again.
