So we secured the VFL full back of 2010, and a backup Ruckman with technically our 3rd round pick of 55 ( which is a fourth round pick in a non compromised year)
Mr Bond well done.

And we'll get that pick (#55) back for Tarrant in the next couple of hours I'd reckon ...
Which would mean ...
Taz = Faulkner and Griffin
Mzungu + 44 = 38.
I'd take that as succesful week seeing we are over a barrell in the Taz deal.

I wonder what you'd be saying if Chris Connolly had picked up a couple of 25 year olds from the WAFL and VFL. Strange days.

Well that's good news. I've seen him play some good games for Adelaide, just hope that he can become more consistent if he is injury free

Re Shane's comment ...
Current Footy department have the runs on the board re trades and talend id so we grant them greater license and give players longer to deliver.
Connolly and Schwab would have given away all of of early picks and insert name of awesome young Victorian of your choice Suban?, Barlow?] to recruit Davis, Motlop and Walker.
And tomrrow's West would have quotes from Rick Hart saying ...
"Davis and Motlop will kick 100 goals between in 2011 ...
"Walker will play midfield and should start favourite for the Brownlow ...
"We'll finish Top-4, maybe top 2, and challenge for the premiership next year"
(Ok maybe a little harsh)

None of your comments would actually hold up to any scrutiny; and if you listed the players brought off of the rookie list during that time, the board would suddenly be flushed with trade and talent id runs.
But my point was more about the changing expectations from the Gold Coast and a freak from the VFL (who Fremantle rookie listed rather than drafted), that a 25 year old who never made it and a 25 year old who failed can generate such excitement.

According to Facebook:
Adelaide ruckman Jonathon Griffin has been traded to Fremantle.
The Dockers will part with round four pick No.61 in the NAB AFL Draft, which was traded to them by Gold Coast as part of the Peter Faulks deal earlier in trade week.
Griffin, 24, made his debut for the Crows in 2007 and has played 41 AFL games.
He was recruited in the 2005 Rookie Draft (pick No. 21) from WAFL club East Fremantle

So it took the introduction of a new team (or two) to wake up to the idea that "mature age" players still have something to offer. Freo were way ahead of the pack in this regard (think Brad Bootsma people). Jagged Barlow for sure - if they were that sure we wouldn't have waited until the rookie draft.
There have always been a few gems tucked away - it was just that there were so many young fellas available.

Fair point Shane that a 25yo VFL/WAFL/fringe AFL traditionally would not be a good pick up and recognise these guy are not going to be Barlow. they are not pure midfielders but serve a purpose to fill the future gap we will need:
tarrant (30) = Faulks (22)
sandi backup/Clark development = Griffen (25)
Hayden (30)= Zimbabwe (25)
I think the fact that we got these three players for one 3rd round draft pick ( we retained a 2nd round 44) and if bond does anything close to what he's done in the past two years ie:
pick up a Suban/ Ballas @ pick 20
pick up a Crichton/roberton @ pick 44
it's another respectable year of trade for Freo
