"Current member-elected representative Kate Grieves’ two-year term expires on 30 November." Assuming the Kate decides to seek re-election, can anyone provide some background on her efforts over the last couple of years (and where does she sit on the jumper fiasco)

I will be very interested to see what Kate Greive has on offer for her re-election. While I know this won't go down well on here, one of her points when she ran 2 years ago was that she knew what it was like to be an interstate member.

In the time Ms Grieve has been 'on board' the Melbourne based members of the club have gone from having a main function (the weekend when all of Perth descends on Melbourne) which is usually 1/4 the size it needs to be and has one mini-bar in the furtherest corner, a 'cheer-squad' function (usually whichever player they can force up for 5 minutes before they run to the bus) and an end of season function (sometimes players, sometimes not). Last year, the end of season function disappeared. This year, the main function (once again in a terrible location where you couldn't hear yourself think let alone the players on the microphone) was it.

Then of course, there's that little issue with the jumper...

The idea that a member elected member is there to represent members, whilst false even at the time, is now long dead.

They're there to make it constitutionally resemble a club, as opposed to a corporation.

Then perhaps it's time that was changed Drubbing. There was a report done not all that long ago that recommended there be more member elected board members. If they were to reach a point of 50-50, the apparent 'gagging' should diminish.

I do know that if I was a member elected board member and had been gagged in my time (particularly a time such as now), I wouldn't be putting my hand up to run again because I'd feel like I'd duped not only everyone that had voted for me, but myself too.

I wonder if you could run on a platform of promising to leak every single board activity?

I reckon what we have lacked is an 'International barhopper'on the board.

You know it makes sense.

I think you will find Kate Greive has been a pretty effective board member.

I am concerned that she is going to "wear the pain" from a lot of disaffected members and that would be a shame and wrong.

Think about the concerns last time we had an election around leaks, heard anything like that in the past two years?

I think you should run for member elected Board Member Rogerhilly. I'll vote for your no worries. I know you wont be gagged.

Ha ha. Given the last time I tried to enter Fremantle Oval I was stopped by security and I can't even get a simple email saying thank you from anyone at the club (be it admin, member elected board members or the president) I'm not sure how effective I'd be at representing anyone!

Some sort of freak-power campaign is called for. Along the lines of Hunter S. Thompson's early 70's campaign for Sheriff of Aspen. Throw the establishment off balance with a grass-roots campaign that comes from so far out of left field it energises the disenfranchised and disillusioned.

He didn't win, but he scared the crap out of both major parties so badly they had to join forces to defeat him. And it was close.
