Top 25 draft picks
#332181
Is interesting how this journo Daffey says about our possible first pick at 20

20. Cameron Guthrie (Calder Cannons): Is a strong-minded midfielder who would push Ryan Crowley out of the Dockers' line-up. He kicked a few goals in the TAC Cup finals.

Anyway, this is the link for the list

If Guthrie really is good enough to push Crowley out, I certainly wouldnt have a problem with that.

Although the Journo probably only see's Crowleys output from look at stat sheets and not from watching his performances so he could be miles off the mark.

I think Crowley is very underrated player. He is our best tagger, has a big body and is an accurate kick for goals, both on the run and from set shots. Should be a fixture in our side for another 4-5 years you'd think. While another quality midfielder would be welcome, if there are any good key position prospects still around at pick 20 I'd go for them - we will need more depth with time ticking down on Grover and McPharlin's careers.

I've always appreciated Crowley, was my favourite player until Ballas came along.

With our backline issue. We have Suban, Roberton, Silvagni, (now) Faulks,VanBerlo, Jono.

I think we are done for now. Its our forward line that needs work! TALL FORWARD!

Duffield and Broughton run over your cat or something?

Oh God. Totally forgot about them.

Duffers is a gun in the half backline. Broughton is awesome too!

Yeah...let's hope our latest recruit is somewhere close to as good as SCOS - if he is at 195cm and apparently a good athlete he'll be a real coup. But the key is - is he a good decision maker and have decent disposal like SCOS has? But I have faith in the Lloyds...hopefully Faulks will turn out to be another feather in their caps!
Tall forward? I like Johnno up forward - Mayne can play tall lead-up forward plus park Pav there more as our midfield develops...maybe a deal can be done next season when Clark comes out of contract?

does anyone realise that anthony from the wobbles was actually drafted as a backman and plays in the VFL as a backman? so isnt it a smart idea to take him and like we do with johnno, float him between the backline and forward, depending on the match up for the week... or id be happy to keep him deep in the forward line, has a good lead and grab on him, with pav just floating everywhere like he does.. throw in johnno floating with ballas and mayne crumbing, id be happy with that? 50+ goals in a year, must be doing something right for a 'defender'.....

jack darling - WA boy - saying he may go at pick 18 - would be a good grab if he slid to 20.. big boy, key target, has been playing WAFL seniors for over a season, ready to go..

Would love to get our hands on young Steven Cognilio.
Too bad that he is only 16.

I've never really thought of Paul Daffey as a journo, just a really smart guy who loves football. Besides his worn out Richmond jumper and a refined focus on the developing young'uns of Vic/SA he usually misses out on those in the Territory (which could be one of the best talent pools). The ones he mentions from WA are good, but well known prospects - there are others.

But Daffey's no Duck, his opinions are always worth a read.

Agreed that Darling might be handy if he stayed around until pick 20; but is he the type of player that we are gunning for at the moment?
I thought he had slipped down the draft pecking order because of injury of something, but am not sure.
I would think the recruiters are probably targeting a certain 'type' of player with the first pick, but do not really have any idea of what it is.
Any thoughts? (other than the obvious - "a very good player".
