I think the theory is that Unions acquired the prison arrows number when Fremantle packed it up after their first catastrophic dispute.
The other theory is that Mrs Hodge was crap at knitting and couldn't get the lines straight. Harry had to grow a mighty moustache to over come the merciless ribbing he got for wearing such a stupid jumper. Judging from the 1888 photo, I reckon he wore a cowboy hat too.
(or that photo could just be from when he played for South Fremantle, I doubt Schwabby did that much research before he went to the screen printers.)
Freo was the peoples club we all believed,
But Stevie’s had his way, we’re all aggrieved.
He ditched the anchor, and like a wanker, he didn’t stop
Gone is the red and the green, the logo’s now a flop
Heritage let down, Freo fans hit the town, they let it roll
We say “why can’t you just get it,
we don’t want one bit of it”
Go hit the road
Freo, whoa oh –oh-oh
Not for the money, not for the show
Freo don’ need another logo
Freo, whoa oh-oh-oh
We say “heres a tip for ya rosich
It looks like a bent paperclip"
Logo’s a no go
Stevie be runnin’ havin’ great big fun ‘til he got the note
Dockerland aint happy, fans really angry, that’s all she wrote
No ones buying new lines, merchandise has hit hard times, we’re going broke
They’re saying “why can’t you just get it,
we don’t want one bit of it”
Go hit the road
All those years we were cheering,
Wore our colours with pride
Now we are all despairing
These changes to our club we cannot bide
Elected board members remained mute
Fans locked out of the launch
Eejats screwing around with our roots
Gonna feel the wrath of the staunch.
We want our Anchor
We DEMAND our Anchor
He better listen cause we're ringin' a bell
We’re not buying what he’s trying to sell
Your time has come to go, go Steve ya Wanchor.
Those in charge must be crazy oh,
Time to draw line in the sand
A pissed of fan base in Freo,
Gonna make those fools understand
A sold out fan base in Freo,
Gonna make those fools, gonna force those fools to understand
We want our Anchor
We DEMAND our Anchor
They better listen cause we're ringin' a bell
We’re not buying what he’s trying to sell
Your time has come to go, go Steve ya Wanchor
