Hawthorn win a flag and they change the rule about rushed behinds.
Collingwood win a flag and they change the rule about interchange
Keep an eye out for the height limit on ruck men after Freo win the flag (or more likely they'll get rid of the bounce and make it a ball up).

How in the hell did these guys get in charge of our game?
More to the point, how do we get them out?
And CEO's for that matter?

Height restrictions, speed limits and no hair pulling or pinching perhaps. Pav wouldn't allow that to happen surely.
This probably forces Collingwood to change their game plan more than other teams, however I think the teams will adapt and bend this law too. No doubt it lessens the disadvantage of losing a player to injury though.

Does anyone else think this is a stupid rule? It means one player from each team is effectively gonna sit on the bench for most of the game.

"The use of interchange has created ... more defensive pressure..." Anderson said.
I always thought that defensive pressure was a good thing.
Silly me.

it could work, imagine bringing Clive back and giving him 10 minutes of the fourth quarter to create mayhem.

I like the new rule. Having 3 players to rotate off the bench won't have a major impact on our style of play and having the sub incase of an injury will definitely work in our favour.
Teams like Collingwood will suffer a lot more then us with this new rule.

Of course they'll bend it, which means that it won't lessen the disadvantage of losing a player at all.
Teams won't go in with the intention of a player getting injured. They'll have a plan which revolves around switching player X for player Y at a certain point in the game.
If you lose a player early then, yes, you get to swap him but you are still effectively playing a man short later in the game when you had planned to have the fresh legs come in.
I imagine most of the time the substitute will have been used before the injury happens. Which would genuinely make you a man short.
If you don't use your substitute in that way, and you wait for someone to get injured while the other team do use their substitute without an injury - you are also a man down.
It doesn't matter what scheme you come up with, if one of your players gets injured you're disadvantaged. Suck it up and win anyway.

Well ofcourse it is still a disadvantage, eg losing Aaron Sandilands and being forced to replace him with Zac Clark etc.

Apart from making it slightly more difficult for coaches to decide how to pick a balanced team and when in the game to replace a player, I don't see what improvement it will make.
Players tend to go down more than one at a time, and its difficult to assess which ones will be out of the game immediately, and which might be able to come back. We saw a few games this year where Fremantle players got injured(eg. Luke McPharlin, Greg Broughton, Rhys Palmer)& looked like they might not be able to play any further in the game only to see them come back in the second half.
I suppose with coaches making multiple interchange moves (eg 2 players off for 2 on), if the sub comes on during a multiple interchange it might be difficult for the opposition to figure out which player is being permanently replaced. I guess there might be some fine details in the rules about when and how you can use the sub too.
