I think someone should draft a contract and have someone go around and have a quiet word with our MR 2-faced "#ยค% lying TARRANT

After Flinchy's deal last year, it would be a bit hypocritical to not do a deal with the Pies wouldn't it?
Taz does not have to nominate for the national draft, he can simply name his terms and waltz into the pre season draft with his Pies jumper on. It would be a brave club to draft him there, when in a compromised draft, good players are hard to come by.
In our favour are the noises coming out of Hawthorn and Carlton, which incicate they are still interested and think they can persuade Taz etc etc. That might be enough to persuade Mick to part with something half decent. I kinda like the idea of a three way deal to get the players we want or a decent pick (which I think 55 is).

Grub pick 55 in effect is about pick 75 in this compromised draft - all GC's concessions plus the compensation for clubs losing players to GC.

Its not worth a sausage and Coll'wd know it.

55 is too low a pick without a player thrown in as well. It doesn't compare well when you consider that they used pick 25 for Andrew Krakouer, and he's also much better value than Josh Fraser who'll get Collingwood a 3rd round pick. The player reckons he can play for 3 more years.

They are not dealing in a reasonable manner, and it might be the right thing to make them use pick 43 (their first pick) in the draft. Will he last that long? Besides Hawthorn & Carlton, what if North Melbourne picked him up and he was playing alongside his brother? Would he still say he wanted to quit? His manager is pushing the line that he could retire, but how much of that is bluff? He's just got married; Would he want to drop his income from football that much? Does Collingwood really want Chris Tarrant as much as Chris Tarrant wants to go to Collingwood? I don't have the answer to these questions but I guess Fremantle would know a bit about it.

Win some, lose some. Hypocrisy don't come into it. We picked up Adam McPhee, lost Josh Carr. Collingwood got Luke Ball , lost out on Nick Stevens.

In the Luke Ball situation, at least St Kilda were offered pick 30.

I guess there's the possibility also that Collingwood don't want him at all and are deliberately stuffing up the trade week for us because they perceive us as one of the threats.

If you go into the draft, get drafted, and then retire because it's not the club you wanted, isn't that draft tampering?

I agree with Kevin Bartlett

www.sen.com.au/display-opinion/Tarrant-draft-tampering/16230

If Tarrant goes to PSD he must be prepred to play for any club that picks him. I would not discount Hawthorn spending the next month doing their best to convince Taz to join the Hawks, and surely Collingwood are aware of the risk.

But what could we take in return...not sure about Anthony, and think we need better than pick 55 offered.

Would still love to get Clark, and some rumours still floating around about Rich, but other than Tarrant, I don't think anyone else on our list is expendable. Still have an inkling that Walker might also still be in the mix.

Someone mentioned,
Tarrant > Collingwood
Anthony > Carlton
Walker > Port and
Surjan to Freo (Port would have to give Carlton a pick also, but Port also have salary cap issues.)

How about,
Tarrant > Collingwood
Anthony > Carlton
OHailpin > Sydney
White > Freo

Thats one that baffles me - How does Port have Salary cap issues? Their club is a serious mess.

Collingwood look ste to be the nect Man United of the AFL the way things are going.

Collingwood don't want Tarrant because they don't know how to drive him. They've already shown that. Sad to say, but I believe that even if he gets picked up he'll quickly disappear into obscurity.

let him go to the draft. He played his contract out and is all you can ask. 30yo who missed half the games this year through injury and leaving has given us room in the cap to retain mundy. Pies can use their first pick if they want on him.
good luck Taz , am sure the pies faithful will understand after a few quiet games and you've taken games off young GF players like Brown and made presti retire... oh and future coach bucks will be happy that Mick used his first draft pick on a 30 year old... but as long as you're with your mates and wife, the ultimatum game will all turn out to be a great decision.

OK here's another spin on the trade involving walker. Not sure how likely it would be:

Taz to Pies
Anthony to Blues
Walker to Port
Freo swap pick 20 with Ports pick 16.

Freo then offer pick 16 to Lions for Clark. They will then have picks 5, 16, 25 & 27. Pick 16 packs a bit more punch then 20 and better then any GWS compo they'd get.

Freo may have to massage the deal a bit though with swaps of later picks or something. Can only hope.
