Hey Polly. If you get your hands on it let me know, otherwise we can head down to the club next week. We can be good cop/bad cop. I should be good cop, because nobody ever takes me seriously as bad cop.

I completed an uni assignment this time last year using the Freo constitution. I emailed the club and they sent me a copy. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't send out another copy if contacted.

I think you will find the constitution will say must consult members, but it won't say how many members. It will be a tick box they will have to do.

something like this

Steve 1 - says we have to consult the members

Steve 2 - put a question in the newsletter and ask a few people at training

Steve 1 - great we can tick that box.....now where is my chardonnay.

It was very similar when Curtin started to give the Muresk Campus the arse. It said in their change management procedure staff must be consulted. Which they did. What it didnt say was that staff had to be listened to, or anything they said had to be implemented.

They held a "information session" and allowed them to tick the box.

Welcome to corporations.

I find it frustrating that FFC promote themselves as the "peoples club" and its "your club" (at least until today) but really did live up to these words.

Thanks Guys for making the Constitution available, I've forwarded it on to my Lawyer and he will be going through it over the weekend. I would suggest as many legal heads do the same and that they get together as soon as possible to go through the options.

I read through the constitution, and as far as I can tell the Director's don't owe any duties to the members, other than to organise one 'Club Member Meeting' a year. In fact, the constitution explicitly states that "Club Members are not entitled to vote on any matter or at any Meeting." (see Article 47.3)

I would summarise the constitution in the following terms:

i) The directors are elected by, and beholden to, the WAFC; and

ii) Everyone else is irrelevent.

Morgan, did you really expect anyting different. Like all AFL clubs FFC is a corporation and will do what it sees as best for itself.

It like being at work and wanting to be consulted about something that effects the company from upper management. We would all like it, but it aint going to happen.

The whole this is your club bit is just another marketing ploy to get people in, and obviously a very good one at that. They obviously saw the wiggles up the road as a corporate type entity and tried to go the opposite to attract people to the club. With that accomplished they are now going to set about going to the next level so to speak.

Smart plan, cos it worked. Had us all believing we were part of something bigger, which is essentially what we all want.

As people have said in other threads best way to vote is wit our feet. Which i find rather hard as I still love the club. I just wont be buying any knew merchandise and will wear my old gear as a form or protest.

We are kidding ourselves if we thought we were more to the club than just bums on seats. This is not suburban football any more. The AFL has become big lumbering business.

If you want to feel part of of the heart and soul look to country footy.

Actually on that note I am the secretary of a country footy team. From supporters point of view it is awesome when you have a whole town supporting your team. However, our committee make decision on what we feel is best for the club, and there are many supporters who disagree. People who disagree tell us all the time cos they have access to us. However, doesnt mean we will listen, because we are looking at a bigger picture. ultimately whether we win a premiership is the way we know we have done well. Failure is not playing finals or getting the spoon.

We won the spoon in 2008, won the grandy this year.
