Few commentators wrote umps have favourite players, looks like they have favourite teams as well ... Geelong, Syd, Carlton and they don't like St K and the Hawks butter stopping whining Goddard & Co.

hmm...I think a more accurate measure is to divide the number of votes a team received by the number of wins a team had (plus 0.5 for draws). So then it's a brownlow votes per win statistic. When I did that the real favourites turned out to be the toast, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Carlton. The umpires were far less keen on North Melbourne, Collingwood and St Kilda.

Am I right? Maximum votes per team = 132 (22 x 6), yeah?
The mob up the road got ... 31.
Or (by my admittedly dubious reckoning) they failed to make an impression on the umpiring fraternity in 60% of the games they played.
60%.
That's a pretty impressive lack of impression.
I dunno whether 'runaway 2011 wooden spoon favourites West Coast' is an expression that's entered the language yet, but surely it can't be long before it does.

wizfan the toast couldn't runaway from a wooden spoon (or out-mark one come to think of it). booze buses, however, are a different proposition.
take the 13 votes priddliss got from their 31, divide that by the rest of them and you have got......

It's in my common vernacular now Wizfan, in fact its such an inspiring and deeply meaningful a phrase I'm off to tattoo it across my stomach in a semi circular fashion...
Might just remove the 2011 part of it caus let's face it there will be far greater long lasting application that way.
Those words will never die

so Sandi (21 games, 20 votes) and Barlow (13, 12) combined scored more votes than the entire feathered fouls rabble. i like that

I'd like to see the 'frees for' vs Brownnose pts stats, I suspect that one mirrors the other.

unfortunately, no. the eagles received most free kicks for this season, followed closely by port adelaide.
the player who received most frees for the season, daniel cross, polled 7 votes. joel selwood was the second most free kicked player, and he got 21 votes.

Judd got 34 for and 15 against. Which is pretty good for a two time eye gouger/face splitter opener.
