Tony Notte

At the bottom of a story on afl.com about the Slime likely to be drafting Jacob Brennan under the father/son rule there's a note that the Eagles have indicated that they will delist Notte (and Wilkes).
195cm & 20yo - Highly rated before the 2007 draft but was always seen as a longer term prospect because of his slight build. Ocassionally i've seen glimpses of a very talented footballer. Thought he played well in the 2008 WAFL grand final, but finished 2010 as Swan Districts reserves player.
Anyone think he's got any future after three years of 'development' at West Coast?

From the few times I've seen him play, I've thought he had a Justin Longmuir quality about him.
I think it's pretty clear that West Coast have no idea when it comes to player development so I wouldn't be against someone looking at him.

I worry at the term "three years of development at West Coast" it could mean anything.

Dead right Shane - it's the players that West Coast rejects that make them the best to pick up.
I thought Notte was a touted as having real potential a couple of years ago.

There's that old saying - you can chose your friends but not your father (or words to that effect...)
The poor lads destiny was written at a time when his future looked bright. Then along came a purple haze...

Monkey Brennan is a top bloke and was a bloody solid footballer. The predominately Freo boys from the first Evil squad (WA state 18's) didn’t have a choice in the matter and the idea of a joining local AFL team would have looked pretty good at the time. Jacob's a good kid who was no star at school and has worked hard to improve - I hope it goes well for him.

Three years of development at West Coast... So no development at all really. The freo development team could could change that.

I bet they want to rookie list Notte.
It also said in the article that Brennan was the wegirls first farther son pick.
Wasn't Mitch Morton there first farther son pick?

I'm afraid I would be looking at him - Notte thankyou.
I think he has definitely lost a heap of confidence but I think that tends to happen if you don't have a lot of upside to your natural ability.
For some blokes the writing is on the wall no matter who the development staff are at whatever club.
He has got no real size, not much pace, is gangly, cannot kick very far, but has the occasional half-decent grab.
That summution, an AFL footballer does not make.

Fathered by someone who played over 100 games for the Weagles.
I think Freo are waiting on any offspring of Bandy, M Carr, McManus, Belly, James walker, Cliiiiiiiive, Jeffrey, JLo, Dale Kicket, Pav, Sandi, Hase, Shane Parker, Elvis, Schammer, Grover for our first fathered by a docker / son pick up (as opposed to Clem Michael and Brett Peake)
