Blocker,ok but how about some nipple tape for the clash whites - gives me the creeps (more than a hip-hop shangalang handshake).
This has to be a joke - the tricolour is our jumper, that great chant our song. If we heeded the marketing guys advice we would be based in Bejing and singing something from the Sound of Music.

Go to the team store. If they're low on stock, have plenty of sales, then you know it's happening.

But we haven't heard ANYTHING about this. There has been no inkling whatsoever. (unless I've been living under a rock? Which is quite possible after our loss to Geelong)
However incompetent our journos are over here (DLers not included, of course), surely they would have smelt something out about this?

Humph...if anything was synonymous with Fremantle you would think that it would be the anchor.

Went to a few different sporting stores on the weekend, Rebel and Jim kids, both said they have been told the the Jumper in in for a HUGE change. The strange this was that Rebel said they were losing the purple as a predominant colour. Jim kids just they haven't much on colour changes just a design change.
Watch this space I Suppose.

I was asked to do the survey. I thought it was to all members, but obviously not. It definitely happened, but I'd be interested to see the published results before things start changing.
Love the song, love the home strip. Away strip is OK.

I don't want any of it changed, we are who we are.
BUT that's not the point. The point is we are a club, an affiliation of members, we are supposed to be inclusive of our members and that is what sets us apart (among a myriad of other reasons) from clubs like the slime. How can they make such radical changes without full and proper consultation with the members - it's like your arm going off and getting a tatoo without the permission of your brain!!!
So I've taken Mr Smiley's suggestion and emailed the following (with personal info removed) to club admin:
"Dear Fremantle Football Club Administration,
I am a Fremantle Football Club member (member No. ) and I write to seek clarification on some changes I have been told the club will introduce.
I have been led to believe that the club’s colours, emblem (the anchor) and team song are all to be changed. I hope that you can please confirm whether this is the case and please let me know when the member’s consultation period will begin in relation to the proposed changes.
Kind regards
"
I'll report back any reply I may get.

Can't get rid of the anchor. My plan was always for a discrete anchor tattoo somewhere after we win our first GF. What do I have tattooed now?

More excitingly, where will you have it tattooed?
Just don't have it tramp stamped onto the small of your back!

I’m sure our member-elected board members will keep us in the loop. *snigger*
But seriously, I’m very upset by this (potential) change. I’d be very surprised if out of a 1000 member survey, the majority wanted the jumper changed in a significant way. Sure, people have an issue with the song (I think they are wrong) but the jumper? As a former coach used to say, ‘our colour is Purple, our symbol is the anchor’. It’s pretty simple, and I think on the money. Maybe you could convince me that we could lose the red and green. Maybe. But to lose our most important symbol is very upsetting.
Symbols are important. How many times do you hear of people ‘playing for the jumper’? I love the giant inflatable anchors on the stand at Subi. Sure they are there to create advertising space, but they are one of the only things that make Subi feel the tiniest bit like a home ground. The club makes a big song and dance reassuring us that being a member is important, and that the club belongs to us, and then they go and change something as important as the home jumper without anything more than a large focus group, the results of which we haven’t seen.
A few V’s don’t make you think of Freo. Victoria, Melbourne, North Melbourne, and more recently Port have all used V’s on a jumper. The anchor is ours, and should continue to be on the jumper.
