I don't care much for the new jumper. But we won't change the clubs mind on this. I guess I'll get used to it.

But, how about we use the original in heritage round? If I just get to see the players running around in it once a year, it will be better than nothing.

So, lets make an awfully big fuss about the new jumper, and the club may compromise, so that the original Freo spirit is not gone forever.

I think they underestimate the extent of feeling on this issue.

I had some stuff to do today and parked my ute quickly without putting money in the meter - got stuck a bit longer than I thought and was sure I got nabbed. When I finally got back...fair dinkum, this was left under my wiper:

Well Polly, I have a mutual friend with one of the the Steves. (The lesser satan)

I passed on my stern disapproval about the jumper, logo and process. Was informed that its all a marketing exercise (no kidding) How do you justify alienating half your devoted membership as a marketing exercise?

It's pretty simple Yeti - they just don't care.

Damn straight, rogerhilly, they just don't care.

It isn't even a justification. It is a statment of what they do, not why.

I don't think they have a reason to do what they do. In fact, in terms of the Fremantle Football Club, they don't have a reason for being. So, let's snuff this thing once-and-for-all and be rid of 'em.

The parking and bumper stickers work like a damn though - whoohoo, free parking!
When the chevron members stickers come out I reckon the same parking inspectors will smack a double fine - especially on gold Camrys/optioned-to-the-hilt Land Cruisers.

I assume your only talking about those Land Cruisers whose owners aren't sure what those funny dials on the front hubs are for.

I'm with Mushy on this. I loved our old emblem - it displayed 3 clear maritime themes which was important to me being a "Fremantle port person":

(i) The tough. buff purple Docker, in his singlet and cap - daring others to take him on with his "don't mess with me" expression
(ii) the anchor - an international maritime symbol as old as ships/boats themselves
(iii) the red/green shield shape backing the Docker - the internationally recognised navigational colours for port and starboard.

How ironic is it that at the very time we LEGALLY get to use the name "Dockers" the club decide to delete the emblem exemplifying that very image?

When I look at the "old" logo I feel strenghth, unity, and determination. When I look at the "new" logo all I feel is embarrassment.

The only compromise I can think of - if we HAVE to have the purple chevron jumper ( which we look forced into doing whether we like it or not) then please let us use the original emblem in the original colours as a patch - over the heart, where it belongs.

We agree. I do like the new guernsey but the new logo blows!
The 'wharfie dude' with the beanie holding the anchor is classic Freo. As soon as you see it you know it's our logo.
The new logo could be any bloody thing. An anchor with a letter 'D'. Lame.
I like the new look of just purple with white - having the red and the green was just to much so I can understand the clubs decision to refine things - but why change the logo?
I'm way more sad about the logo change than the guernsey change.

Feedback from one of the steves this morning via a mutual friend. Comments along the lines of don't care appear to be spot on the money.

It appears that according to the Steve, the younger supporters like it and the club is selling them hand over fist. The divisions created within the supporter base do not appear to be important to the steves.

Perfect example of why neither of these blokes should be allowed in the front door of the club and the sooner they're gone, the better.

Oh, that's what Steve said? Must be true then.

Selling them hand over fist? Don't believe a word of it.

And by the way, my kids are all gen-whatever and they don't like the new jumper at all. My daughter, who is a fashionista, haaaaaaates it.

If the Steves had any brains between them, they would have realised that if we'd all had a say in the new jumper and felt that it was reflective of the majority view, then we would all be behind it. We would ALL buy it. We would all approve of it and be united. Now we are divided and we have a jumper that says you are 'newfreshbold' if you wear it and an old jumper that says you're not 'newfreshbold' if you wear it.

Great forward thinking Steves.
