Minor Premiers, Fremantle, have moved a step closer to securing the major premiership, after a 9 point victory over the Sydney Swans has put them into the preliminary finals, at home, against some other chumps. Fremantle were not in a generous mood, and gave the Swans a slow, painful death with 2 hours of vintage Ross Lyon football. The Dockers took an early lead and had the crowd on their feet by quarter time, then spent the next 3 quarters torturing Sydney with a blanket of purple bodies, giving the Swans just the faintest, tiny piece of hope that they might be able to catch Fremantle before punishing them with a couple of quick goals. The win gives Fremantle another week off for the players to contemplate which way they will wear their sponsors caps when they collect their premiership medal, before taking on whoever survives the losers' fight to the death (which some people refer to it as a Semi Final) and then from there it's on to the Grand Final.
Fremantle won by 9 points.
