Say a prayer for Essendon. The poor bastards have catapulted Fremantle up the ladder in one of the most exquisite games of bottom of the ladder football you're likely to see. Fremantle turned it on from the opening siren to the final siren...well, close enough...waltzing the ball out of the centre, kicking it down to the forwards who served up goal after goal, nearly putting the goal umpire as he gently rocked back and forward with the ball going straight over his head. Michael Barlow was a delight in the centre, back to his best, Chris Mayne was strong in the air, on the ground and by foot, Taberner played like a young Matthew Pavlich, Matthew Pavlich played like a young Matthew Pavlich, Crozier was everywhere, Neale was everywhere else and Mundy joined the both, helping out where he could. So great was Fremantle's dominance that they had the game in the back before half time and spent the rest of the game building percentage. They pulled themselves up from the bottom of the ladder and by the time the Mexican wave had done it's third lap, the Dockers were up into 16th spot...just 5 games out of the 8.
Fremantle won by 79 points.
