The long build to the finals is starting to feel a little shorter, as Fremantle locked away the minor premiership with a routine belting of Melbourne in less than a quarter of football. The Dockers were clinical in their dismantling of the side from Melbourne, humiliating them by barely raising a pulse yet keeping the Demon's to just the one behind. Despite no Michael Walters, Hayden Ballantyne, Nat Fyfe or even Alex Pearce, Fremantle had 11 goals on the board by half time and decided Matthew Pavlich would look good sporting a red waistcoat. The second half was an exercise in not getting hurt or reported, which most players managed successfully, with the crowd amusing themselves by yelling out ‘blow the siren’ and testing the market value of their children, as the need to secure Grand Final tickets is put back on the agenda. By siren time, Fremantle had given Melbourne a few easy shots and goals so only managed a 54 point but can’t be removed from the top of the ladder.

Fremantle won by 54 points.
