It was the sort of night that's so cold you don't want to leave the house for fear of knobs making Game of Thrones references every five minutes but somewhere upwards of half of the Fremantle membership ventured out anyway. It was a decision most of them were regretting halfway through the opening quarter, as GWS seemed to be piling on the goals at will. Fremantle's lack of defenders was proving a problem. Amazingly though, Fremantle turned things around, quickly, kicking goals from angles and at distances over thirty metres and by quarter time they were 5 goals apiece. Unfortunately the excitement got to Freo in the second quarter and, after taking the lead gave it back again with some change to be three goals down at the long break. They buggered about with the footy too much in the third quarter and but the time they got their act together again in the last, time ran out, with GWS kicking on on the siren to win by 18 points.
Fremantle lost by 18 points.
