You don't expect much from the West Coast Eagles these days but crikey, people paid good money to see a game of football, not the warm up before a Fremantle open training session. The Eagles continued their ever lengthening string of public humiliations with Fremantle handing them a complete trouncing, effectively ending the season of the West Coast Eagles and putting their very license at risk. The only time the Eagles were in the contest was the coin toss (and they even lost that), with Fremantle putting through the opening 10 goals before Nik Naitainu was finally given a charity free kick to save us all the ordeal of the Eagles having to do a lap around the ground with their pants down. The game was over before the first quarter was, spoiling what many hoped would be a delightful afternoon of football with the highly rate West Coast putting up a good fight. Sadly, Fremantle were eventually forced to pack up most of their players to give the Eagles a chance and restore the credibility of the once fine institution that is the Western Derby.
Fremantle won by 30 points.
