I remember a time when we used to walk away from close-ish games feeling ok about things.   CC had just taken over and we were looking for something to believe in after the Drumb years.

This is better.

To me the style that is evolving is more sustainable and less fragile.  It relies on working hard and putting pressure on everyone in another jumper.  It has less moving parts so less can go wrong.  I'm excited.

Anyway...

(1)  Saints.  Slightly less than impressive but not bad after a 6 day break playing against a team that had had 2 weeks rest in Bali prior to bouncedown.  How does the AwFuL continue to let these types of stuffups happen?  6 v 7 day breaks are OK and unavoidable. 6 v 9 in just so stupid as to be inexcusable.

(2)  Geelong.  Floppy & Chappy back this week for what looked like an interesting game when the fixutres came out.  Now I'm not so sure.

(4)  Bwissie.  Its not rare for teams to be down by 5 goals early and win nowadays.  What is rare is for teams to be down by 5 goals early and then have the game wrapped up in their favour only 60mins later.  1 of the grest mysteries of the current era is whether Bradshaw could have functioned as a primary target for a team.  He's been good as the 3rd and now 2nd banana, but never #1 for a season or so.  I think he'd have gone pretty well.

(3)  Essendon.  Should have run over the top of the Aints in the last but had run out of fight by then.  That is what the constant pressure of StKilda can do.  Ryder may be starting to feel the pinch of the #1 ruck and all it entails.  What a joy to have Jayson Laycock as your next best bet...eeerrrccchhh.

(6)  Bulldogs.  I can handle them struggling to get up for Melbourne with Geelong around the corner.  It'll be a distant memory if they can put in a good showing and knock off the Cats.  I don't see it though.

(9)  Blooze.  I bumped them 1 extra spot higher just because they inched Uncle Festerring Turd 1 step closer to the Wallace treatment. What is more likely Fev to bust out this weekend and kick 7 against Rutten or someone else to play 1 half of footy and get the Judd treatment in the media?  Other guys get penalised in the BOG stakes when they take a half off, Judd gets increased polishing of the pole.

(12).  Hawks.  This is a big jump after a close win.  But only 3 teams  in the comp win that game against Freo.  To do it with an injury list they have speaks volumes for what I think is to come in the next few weeks.

(5)  Freo.  The Hawks came to play and so did we.  This game was so obviously going to be decided by who made the most of their 15mins of dominance and this time it was the bad guys.  1 more goal in that 3rd qtr and we get home.  Great stuff from de Boer and Broughton as well as our Superman.

(7)  Port.  Well done Mr Treadrea.  You have risen from the coffin a couple of times this year.  It'd be a tad more inspiring if you didn't do it against the AFL Div 2 teams.

(10)  Synnie.  Thanks again boys.  Thats about 8 out of 10 now or something similar and you always break their hearts by winning close.  The one blemish in that regard we shall never speak of again but I would like to see you flog them once soon.

(14)  Melbourne.  A big game for them this week and they are playing out some hard fought losses.   They will sink again soon as they get demoralised by more tough losses to come but if I was a Melbourne supporter I'd be taking the paper bag of my head now, for the moment its not all that bad.

(11)  Norf.  Not stupid to rest some kids against a team that was always going to flog you.  Not stupid but certainly not admirable either.  Still the last time Laidley did something admirable was when he got reported for hitting Karl Langdon so what can you expect.

(8)  Collingwood.  May be a bit high here what with all the injuries, excuses and retards on the their list.  it is impossible to feel sorry for supporters of this team but seeing players go out with injury and then seeing names like Rocca, Anthony, O'Bree & Shaw as your best chance to reverse the slide must be depressing.  At least they have the chance to play the Fowl this weekend so they have some hope.

(13)  Adelaide.  Apparently the new style will be easier to watch and harder to predict and counter.  Lets hope so.  I wasn't wrong but I was harsh on Craig last week, he's done a decent job with that team in recent years.  The first thing he needs to do is find someone to replace the shell of Andrew McCleod.  Not immediately mind you but he looks to have had it as far as another season is concerned.

(16)  Oh You Poor Things.  As usual the 3 headed beast gave you all the help you needed.  As usual you were too inept to capitalise on the favours bestowed upon you.  To borrow a line I heard somewhere during the week, if the AFL needed an enema, WCE is where they would stick the tube.

(15)  Heheh.  Heheheheh.  HehaaaHAAAAA.  HAAAAHHHAAAAhhAAA!!   Sacked, then not sacked, but about to be sacked.  Has any body any where handled a longer period (we're talking over 20 years now) as poorly as this "club" have handled things in that period.  From spitting supporter to 1 coach every 2 years to no Franklin coz we've got Richo to anything else you can mention this club has been run with all the precision and efficacy of a Russian car manufacturer, only with much poorer results.
