agree as a footballer best kick at goal since the bloke whose name's at the other end. Be great if he had a coffee with his brother at gino's to get him in as a specialist kicking/forward coach for fyfe, ballas, mayne and co.

svs, I think you've got the wrong idea about the Lloyd end.
It will infact only involve a quick shorts lowering ceremony prior to each essendon home game.....

You keep saying nine tribunal appearances like it's a stat. He was reported a few times for because he played the game hard and went out on a witch hunt under a poorly thought out rule.
The picture is that he was one of the best full forwards of all time, in one of the best teams of all time, he was entertaining to watch, never had a bad word to say about anyone, carried himself well and provided a role model to all the young aspiring footballers in his district.

Nine is a pretty good stat.

How many times did he get off the charge?

All of the good things about Lloyd are undoubtedly true.
But the picture includes his tribunal record.
Although I don't imagine Sunday's showreel will include the hit on Brad Sewell.

That hit on Sewell was great.People can say what they like about Lloyd but 900 odd career goals is a fair innings. His comments in todays paper show that he is a gentleman.Who cares how many times he fronted the tribunal.I certainly don't love Jeff or Solly any less for their tribunal records..

I don't love them more for it, either.

I would love to see a banner that says:
Lloyd - He's no James Hird!

Or: Hird — he's no Lloyd?
Late-90s/early-2000s, Llyod was worth his weight in gold. As Shane said, in one of the best teams ever.
The fact he had the fashion sense of Ron Alexander isn't something that should be allowed to detract from his footy record.
In the same way, his achievements on the field aren't lessened by the fact he fronted the tribunal more often than Robert Harvey did.
I know who I'd rather watch.
(Still, I reckon this pre-game tribute sounds deeply embarrassing. If it weren't for the fact that Harry Highpants has such lousy fashion sense, I'd almost feel sorry for him)

He's one of those bastards you'd hope would trip over and smash his face into the fencing or goal post. He was as hard as nails and as soft as butter. He'd push aside opponents and kick goals in games your team was losing. He was a solid lump of wood my chainsaw wouldn't mind tackling.

Maybe for the games against the Roos in Melbourne, we could name one end after Peter, the Bell end.
