Capt. Pav

Much will be said about the younsters in the Freo team that beat the crows: they were great they worked and chased all night. There's a lot to be happy about.
But I thought that Pav's performance was fantastic. While we were finding it difficult early in the game he went into the centre square and started to move the ball our way and the momentum shifted. He kicked telling goals and fed the runners with handballs.
There was a moment late in the 1st qtr when Pav received the ball from Big Aaron and passed it to Hase who found Barlow on the HFF it was all slick and precise and although Barlow missed the goal it was inspiring and set the scene for the 2nd qtr onslaught.

Pav, as always, looked like an indisputably class act. Given that idiots sometimes question his abilities, a thread dedicated to our appreciation of the great man is entirely deserved.

Spot on, D+.
Pav moved himself into the middle when Adelaide got on a run of centre clearances. He stopped the run and he moved back to the forward line.

Slotted a couple of lovely goals and he laid a good tackle, albeit the bloke was on the ground, but he body slammed "unknown crow" and he got a free his efforts.
He was good tonight and yes, I too think marshalling the troops in the middle to get the boys back on track worked well tonight.

I've referred, in the past, to playing Pav in the 'Hird position'.
If he keeps playing the way I saw tonight, we'll end up calling it the Pav position... or the Pavlich manouvre.

I could save a lot by just driving out to Armadale...

At the 26 min mark of Q3 Pav was in the centre, surrounded by what looked like the circling wagons of the Indians - he had time to evade the attackers, look up and pop a beautiful pass to McPhee who was in space in the F50, metres in the clear. It was magic. McPhee's ensuing kick wasn't!

The goal he kicked in the final quarter from just outside 50 was fantastic - maybe watching on TV or something it would have just looked like a good goal from an excellent player - but being there, the captain kicks a goal after a good run to finish off a top passage of play... there's nothing better for mine, I jumped up out of my seat let me tell you!

Even in Armadale you won't get someone to play the Hird position.
Back to Pavlich. Three goals, one of the best out there, great leadership - and I reckon he didn't get out of third gear.

I liked the way he dealt with a couple of would be tacklers while he was on the ball... the fend, the step, the turn, the roost.

Arriving in Armadale I was pleasantly surprised to find I was in the herd position
