Just to muddy the waters even further this was posted on the "Where's your club at" on the AFL site:

"Medical room: Rhys Palmer (knee) is four weeks away from playing AFL football, but he is expected to take his first steps in the WAFL ahead of round one. Hayden Ballantyne (shin) is in doubt for round one, while rookie Matt de Boer’s chances of pre-season elevation were dashed by a six-week knee injury. Antoni Grover (knee), Scott Thornton (groin) and Tim Ruffles (knee) will all miss at least the first month of the season."

Chinese whispers, or ducks and drakes, or just lazy research? Who can tell?

I'll say lazy research, seeing as the Balla's shin mention seems to correlate with actually being De Boer's injury.

If there are more of these kind of slip ups on injury lists during the year the TAB/Dreamteam crew will get in a right tizzy.

Direct from the official site:

Crowley, a former rookie himself, faces direct competition from VFL recruit Michael Barlow, whose superb pre-season has been rewarded with elevation to the senior list, and eventually injured youngster Matt de Boer.

Crowley spent 2009 mentoring de Boer, who played 17 games off the rookie list but has recently been sidelined for six to seven weeks with a knee injury.

That article was written by an afl.com.au journo using the (incorrect) injury list from last week. Deboer was only supposed to be out for 1/2 weeks but they mixed up the columns and aligned him with Grover's injury.

Forget what they write on the web site.

Chris Mayne was out for 1-2 weeks for most of last year. Dessy Headland has been a week away for three seasons.

Really, that list is about as useful as your average racing tip.
