Agree wholeheartedly with Prof Smiley - depression is the worse form of curse that anyone could suffer from. I'm also a 'fair go' individual that believes if there is a valid claim, then it should be honored by the organisation responsible. If that means beans on toast for a few months, so be it.
Hypothetically though, if a corporate lawyer suffered from depression - does that mean their belligerence would turn upon their own belligerence? With a never ending amplification of belligerence I reckon the AwFL would plunk the guy in Central Control to be part of Eyebrows' team instead of paying him out.

You don't "contract" depression - it's a predisposition - either there or not there. Can be triggered by circumstances, may come out of nowhere. Can be controlled by meds, may go away forever, may not.
It's not uncommon for people to take long-term sick leave and compo for stress-related illness, but that's different.
Will be interested in the outcome of Browne's case that his depression is an injury caused by AFL. Hope it doesn't go that way. Hope it doesn't turn nasty. Hope that Browne gets looked after by Freo, and I hope that he appreciates it.

If I may be frivolous with a non-frivolous topic.
If Brownie is successful then this will mean the end of the national draft.
Anyone drafted to OOFTITS would be able to contest it in the courts as the likelihood of "contracting" the illness would be extremely high and thereby they are being forced into an unsafe workplace.
Do the TV Rights provide sufficient funds for the AFL to provide compensation to every player likely to be drafted by the Wet Toast, or Carltank or Port or ....
Then of course there's the likelihood of all their past players making a claim.
Does the recent derby record constitute a legitimate claim? Being forced to live in South Australia? Being captained by Juddy?
So appears to me Free Agency will be in - for all players - if Brownie wins - that way anyone who goes to Wet Toast goes there of there own choosing - definitely a landmark case.
Thats enough of the frivolity back to normal transmission
