Cant get rid of Bradley - see Shane's patented Top Ruckman, Energing Ruckman and Crap Ruckman theory. He holds a special position in the team preventing Sandi from negative karma.
I'm still looking for places for Fyfe and Pearce and Van Berlo is not far off. Agreed with replacing McFree with Grover...thats one guy who has been punching above his weight for years.

Right again, Yeti. Bradley cemented his position as crap ruckman.
Had another look at the game - lots of promise for a 70 point flogging. Good foundation, rootstock, whatever your metaphor.

Drop Hase and put in fyfe purpleful? I think emotion has got the better of you. Fyfe showed he may one day be a good afl player. Hase is one. He is our no 1 midfielder, clearance winner and in and under player. He has done this for years with very little top level support. Have a look at the stats fromlast year I think you may be surprised.

Patience, Stevedore, patience.
As a club we have moved away from the quick road to hell by trading draft picks for players and harves is building a solid foundation for a longer term future. Its a pity Connolly didnt do that first.
Even though we have waited a long time, we all know we have to wait longer for the coach to build attitude, skills, leadership and depth. We will lose a few along the way but the improvement is coming.

"Last night showed where he needs to be."? By my reckoning we've had 14 out of 15 years of being shown where we need to be.
Full of hope. Always. But I don't want to be pinning future domination hopes on Art Garfunkel. He still ducks his head, even when going at a mark without somebody trying to spoil him.
On the game in general, last night was all about reluctance.
Reluctance by players, coaches, selectors and the football gods (when will we ever please them?).
And I don't think it achieved much other than a few more emissions from a qantas jet.
I want more try hards and more try differents and by this I don't just mean try the same stuff in a different position or with a different player. Last night was my first view of footy for the year, so this is a narrow and slightly-informed view, but other than a few faces and some weird "infringements" I don't see much has changed.

When we finally got in last night, just before half time there wasn't much in it. Right after half time with Barlow and Roger, and a couple of others getting it into our forward line we unleashed 2 supergoals that made it interesting.
Then there was some loose checking and skill errors, missing targets that gave them back the momentum and then we capitulated. Haze did look slow and I'm a big fan, but then Schammer looked very average, as did McPhee.
We looked so much better last week in the forward half with Frodo and Mayne. Pav was well held and way too predictable. Pretty ordinary night, but liked Barlow, Duffield, Broughton and Hill's efforts.

You got me Goldy. The Dockers and emotion go hand in hand with me. I felt like a traitor when I even suggested to drop Hasleby. My son was lucky to be 'Docker for a Day' a few years back and he wore Hasleby's number proudly as he ran through the banner with him.
I can't help thinking though that maybe Hasleby has had his time. OK, he may be valuable coming off the interchange to pump up the team when we need it. We know he loves the derbies!

"We know he loves the derbies"
and we know he "loves that man". (insert quivering lip)
Do not write him off just yet. Last year everybody could not believe he was not getting a couple of years extension on his contract and rightly so cause he had a great year. Now people are writting him off?
How quickly we forget. Proven veterans like him and Pav are only told to run around and get some match fitness. No need having them playing 100% in the NAB cup.

I remember a couple of years ago Hasleby was flying in the pre-season. Did his knee I believe.

"Frustrated but full of hope"
Sounds exactly how I've felt since Fremantle joined the AFL.

I agree about the forward line seems impotent without the pressure skills and talent of Frodo and Mayne. These players would definitely allow for Pavlich to be more free.
Am not sure about Headland being at FF but then I have not ever really been a big fan of his. Looks great when given the ball on the run out wide as in the Brisbane days.
He definitely has good disposal. Maybe FF could suit him. There is nobody else putting their hand up. I hope it works.
Kepler has always been a mystery to me. Tries hard no doubt about that. But that aint enough to cut it at this level. The sooner we can get Clarke as a back up for Sandy the better.
I love Barlow and I was also impressed with Silvagni on the weekend.
Unfortunately I am not a fan of Macphee. Just does not cut it. However I am happy if he proves me wrong.
I would love to see Sandi resting down forward and taking grabs. Surely somebody down at the club can teach him how to mark a footy. Clarke as well for that matter.
I love Roger in the middle. But then he is also wonderful coming off the back pocket. If only we had a few more players with his natural flair, athleticism and intelligence. The most under-rated player we have by East coast papers and commentators. He is a champ.
I figure that our best on paper can be around the 7-10 mark on the ladder.
I would like to see improvements especially from Johnson, MacPharlin and Schammer this season.
I am not expecting too much from Morabito just yet. Would like to see Hill improve with his new build; and of course we can all look forward to Palmer's return.
It will be very interesting seeing the youngsters develop. It is a promising young list I think.
