Derby Matchups in review

Before halftime I think our coach got his defensive matchups wrong.
McPharlin on Lynch was good.
Tarrant on LeCras, Broughton on Kennedy, and Silvangi on Cox/Natanui wasn't.
Although Tarrant on Lecras had worked in the past, Harvey was smart enough to rejig the matchups and put McPharlin and Tarrant on the two talls, and put faith in Roberton for one of the smalls. This showed Harvey wasn't single minded and flexible, unilike another coach in WA.
Your thoughts on this and other important matchups?
S Selwood on Hill
Hasleby on Priddis
Crowley on Embley
DeBoer on Hurn
Masten on Stretcher

Well Laidley moved half way back towards WA last year.
I dont mind him, but I want the circus to carry on....SAVE WOOSHA-EY.
Did they have anyone playing on Barlow?
Love this from the WORST. Well words to this effect "Pavlich had been quiet all day, yet still kicked 5 goals."

McPharlin was on Lynch?
I guess that's why they didn't bother to interchange him when he came off with a sore foot and let the game go on with 17 on the ground.

i think the word "match" in the phrase 'match ups' is misused here, as it implies any of the eagles players stood a chance of matching the dockers.
therefore, i would have to say that harvey got 100% of the ups correct, although he failed to rotate our defenders through the forward line enough and accordingly they were largely kept out of the game.

I thought Hasleby was far too pacy for Matty Priddis.
Eagles simply had nobody faster that would have required the attention of Hase.
I think Broughton would have been a better match for LeCras.

The way Fremantle moved the ball up the field from kick in's and got numbers behind their zone was superb.
There is a story for the West or Sunday Times - along the lines of how better organised and tactically superior Fremantle were on the day.
I read Ray Wilson's article and he is moaning about Greg Broughton getting a free kick when the umpire couldn't have seen it. The free kick count was in their favour 24 to 14.

Not a kick that wasn't there, just one that he didn't think the umpire could see.
The best 'up was when Sandilands got rid of Hill's tag in the third quarter with a very handy hip and shoulder - the bonus was that a Selwood was hurt.
