The legend that is Troy Cook

Congratulations to Troy on reaching his 300th senior game - what an achievement considering everything that guy has out his body through over 17 seasons.
It's occurred to me while watching Freo this season that the ability and application to tackle has become the critical weapon of the modern footballer. Like Polly Farmer's revolutionary use of handball, which was then fashioned into a game plan by coaches like Len Smith at Fitzroy and Ron Barrassi at Carlton and eventually all senior football teams, Cooky's unique tackling skill and ability to disrupt the opposition's play around the packs is now the standard that all coaches and players aspire to.
Troy Cook is a legend of football.

Yep a true Freo legend in my book. Nice article in the Worst today (I will probably never say that again).
I always park in Cook(ie) St in West Perth before a game and as I stroll towards the cathedral of comedy, my thoughts often turn to Cookie and his whole hearted approach to the game. He would struggle to get a run in most teams these days, with the emphasis on precise disposal and all that but one thing does not change. You still have to tackle and you still have to get the pill. Cookie did his best every week to achieve that.

Let's hope that he has a resounding win this week to celebrate with.

It always causes me to do a double take when I read anything to do with Troy Cook as our IT dude is also named Troy Cook and he is in no way a football player...

Yes, disposal aside, we've got a lot of players that are going about the game just like cookie.
And we're looking an awful lot better for it.

I'll never forget his bump on Mitchell White in the Demolition Derby. Tough as they come.

Yes, well done Cookie - tough on the bones, but 300 games is a real treat for anyone who enjoys watching the real game.

Remember when Cookie was stuck on 147 games and Harves picked him for the last 3 games of the season so he could get life membership.Thoroughly deserved..

A dead-set legend of Fremantle. Congratulations on a fine achievement.
Our current side is noted for its pressure and hard-tackling. Cookie should take a bow for leaving that legacy.

Yes Roddirat I do remember that.
I consider that action by Mark Harvey to be the first forging of a Dockers Culture.
