The AFL’s Sherrin footballs are coming in all sorts of varying shapes and sizes and Collingwood star Dale Thomas has the proof.

"Quite simply, the balls have lost their feel."

Overshare.

If these were two brand-new, unkicked footies the argument would carry more weight. Having said that, do check out the Nova video. It's more than surprising.

Apparently Nova gave the footballs away as a prize at the end of the show - Simon Prestigiacomo's kids now have a new footy each.

I see what you mean, Mercs - Daisy has the paper open on the Bottlemart advert (so much for footy research).

Yep, time for those WAFL goal umps to flog off the 7 used Burleys they nick off with per game to Mad Mick and Eddie - made from premium sub-continental leather, there's no sacred cow in a Burley ball.

I don't think anyone ever thought the Sherrin was up there with the Burley in terms of quality - it was just the "local" one.

But it is not all bad here in Melbourne - thanks to the mighty South Australian Vili pie factory, the Four'n'twenty is no longer the worst mass produced pie in Australia!

Do Bakewell still make those square ones?

Yeah, bad as they are, the square bakewell slots in much higher on the approved pie pyramid.

I like the Four'nTwentys - always the best pie, no goat in 'em (or horse for that matter).

From my experience, the Burley's are heavier but hold their shape better in the wet. Easier to torpedo, but harder to spear a handball with - also easier to see when you're up against a team wearing red.
