Stats can sometimes be deceiving. He still turned it over at least 3 times with poor disposal. I'm holding judgement but I still feel uncomfortable when he has the ball. Hopefully he can prove us all wrong and be the difference in a game soon.

I'm with you clinical. Stats in the Worst show 5 clangers & I reckon at least half his possies either got a team mate into trouble or went to a contest! IMHO the worst trade of the the year!

Except for the fact that it wasn't a trade. He walked from the Bombers and we got him for free in the pre-season draft. No trading at all.
I don't mind everyone having a crack at old Flinchy, but try not to sound like Hutchy while doing it.

We might call him flinchy but I'd be a little flinchy too if I had him bearing down on me on the field. He's doing OK. Give him a break.

I'm starting to suspect McPhee is McManus sneaking back after a hair cut ...

stats can indeed be deceiving; stats don't say the passes he didn't execute when he should have or the marks he should have took.
don't get me wrong, mcphee's a great bloke and a great player, and even now when he's far from his best he can still pluck something out of the air. that having been said, though, a player with his experience shouldnt need five AFL games to hit his straps. two weeks in the WAFL would do wonders for him i reckon.

You don't have to answer this as it's rhetorical, but do any of you lot of knockers take as much notice of every other player on the field as your chosen scapegoat?

OK, OK, he made some clangers.
Mr. Grumpy: He made some terrible handballs.
Mr. S: That's what happens when you are under pressure. And he was always in and about the action.
Mr. Churl: He dropped some easy marks.
Mr. S: So did Pav. So did the usually faultless Mayne. Conditions weren't good. Did you see the ump try to get some purchase on a slippery ball by rubbing sand into his hands before bouncing.
Mr Grouch: He missed targets with his kicks.
Mr. S: So did they all. But he was the only one with fast, low, penetrating kicks, most of which hit the man on the chest. Much more deadly than the lollipop floaters that most of the others popped up.
Flinchy's an asset.

I must have been watching a different game to some of the media hacks. He coughed it up more than any player out there -missed a couple of absolute gimme marks, his kicking was astray and he was always the first to drop off a chase for the ball. The one upside was that he got a few more touches than his other games, but if we've learnt one thing from the Dreamteam concept it is that numbers of possessions don't always equal impact on a game.
He may not be a 'trade' but to say 'we got him for free' is also a nonsense. He's on our list for three years and he's being paid better than most of our gun young players. If he is out there to impose himself on the game he's got a long way to go.

guy, you might be onto something. Perhaps it's time for Smoky to dye the hair. The Akermanis' of the competition go blonde so they get noticed, a good mousey brown might help Adam blend in and make his onfield oopsies a little less noticeable.

According to AFL website Mcphee made 3 clangers and Sandilands made 7. So do we drop Sandi as well?
Doubters of McPhee should maybe try watching him really closely at a live game (not on TV) and will quickly see the amount of work he puts in. He has improved each week and will continue to.
