while watching the game live i thought he was poor, and i was given a lasting impression from that sitter he dropped in the centre square in the last quarter. but when i watched it on tv i thought he actually didnt look too bad - had a bit of the ball and layed some hard tackles. i think my opinion during the game might have been affected by flinchy detractors seated around me. i just hope he hurts someone on sunday!

Did he look better or was is just that everyone else looked worse compared to our previous games? Thought his overall impact was minimal when balancing good possessions and clangers. Perhaps I am scapegoating him a little but five games in the experienced bigger bodied former AA should be giving us more than a 5 game rookie. Hopefully a big game this weekend!

Goldy,

McPhee's start to the season was slow after a restricted pre-season and settling in at a new club. His first three games were poor. But, after 5 games he is certainly giving us more than a "5 game rookie".

He had 26 disposals against the tigers and his DE% was 69. same as Pav. He had the fourth most possessions for the night and the top five possession getters all had 3 or more clangers.

More importantly he was third in contested possessions (10), behind only Sandi and Mundy.

It was a solid performance, if you can't see that, you aren't giving him a fair crack.

I'd contend that McPhee's start with Freo has been a lot more promising than Tarrant's was. And he's done all right.

Ok let's say we drop McPhee (which I wouldn't support at this time) who is the Freo scapegoat?

I honestly can't find another one.

I conclude Mcphee stays as our official 2010 scapegoat - long live the goat and his bone shuddering tackles and dropped marks.

One thing that suprised me during Richmond game was when Adam McPhee led up from half forward into the centre and marked the ball then moved it on quickly and competently, swinging it around and on his left foot seemingly instinctively.

Not quite as impresive as Stephen Hill's right foot pass when he'd been herded up along the boundary wing after going for a flat out run, but maybe there's a bit of skill there that might balance up the occassion clanger he might make.
