Hats off to Hardwick and Richmond, to be honest. Came up with the right gameplan, just couldn't execute... play us at our own pressure game after two hard weeks.

Nearly worked. They scragged, chopped, niggled, punched and generally played as dirty as they could and it showed. We were caught out... but we got it back together and came away with what we needed.

Right... Smiley's whinge. Every man and his dog has the boots into Flinchy Mcphee. I reckon he was pretty good tonight, certainly not the only one to have the fumbles...

BUT Chris Mayne... FFS, you're a forward, in the forward line. KICK the ball, AT the goals son. Hear me? KICK at the GOALS.

Don't handball on the edge of the square. Ever. Stop that stuff right now.

When the 2010 Fixtures were posted, the overwhelming view seemed to be that Freo had a horror draw for the start of the season. Some commentators were even suggesting we could be 0 from 5 going into the Derby. At this point I will take 4 from 5 thanks very much! Bring on the toast.

Richmond had a crack all right.Nahos was very good.Lucky for us he was injured. He could have done a lot more damage.Happy to get the 4 points. I had trouble breathing in the first quarter!

Credit to the Tiges, they played their hearts out in that 1st quarter. The boys were flat tonight. We were rattled early and never really got going but an ugly win is a win.And Nat is gonna be good, just needs 20 odd kilos on him...

Watching the game live I thought that our skills looked terrible and the umpiring even worse. Home to watch the replay, was surpried to see that our play was not too bad and the umpiring ok too except that shocker non mark to Pav. I just think it is interesting the different perespective you get.

Listened to the game on the radio over here in melbs.

I'm curious to hear from those who watched. Was it just that Richmond where better and we were caught a bit unawares in the first quarter, or was Harves just trying out some new fangled strategy?

Richmond came over with a small yet incredibly quick side. They ran us off our feet in the first quarter although only had so great a margin due to our inability to cash in on opportunities in front of goal.

They tired as our physicality, skills and our own runners imposed themselves on the game.

In the post match interview, Harvey was asked whether the "very technical" umpiring in the first quarter had been a problem. With a wry smile he said 'you know I can't answer that'.
