So the punters were right: Mundy'a a lazy front runner who was useless until he saw something in it for him.

The punters are always right.

I'm sorry but it s**ts me the way some of you focus your critical eye on individual players without taking in the context of their play...

last year Mundy shone in a decimated team. This year, the team is healthy. They ALL look better. Give the guy a break... he's always been class. I remember writing something about him after his first few games... along the lines of being able to bend space and time for himself. He's always been able to make the impossible look casual and some of you hate that... apparently, he should look like a flailing jackrabbit on speed to prove his worth.

You reckon Cousins looks like a jackrabbit?

He's always reminded me of a chipmunk.

I'm gonna go with the famous guitarist analogy tonight, I reckon...

some loved Eric Clapton as a lead despite his self confessed slightly flawed technique and what I call somewhat unimaginative playing. Slow hand.

Others fell for Jimmy Page and the soaring breaks, relentless riffing and the sheer spectaculosity of a twin necked monstrosity.

I prefer, for what it's worth, the boozy ballistic frenzy of Stevie Ray Vaughan... when asked about his speed across the frets he said "I was jes born with big hands"...

thing is, they could all play the thing like no-one else and we're blessed for their talent, but some like one over the other.

couldn't help myself...

Ah, so it's the 'jack' bit we should be riffing on. Jack white is your guitarist of choice!

White.... White stuff....

West Coast!

Gotcha.

Can you speak of guitars and hands and not mention Hendrix?
Geez....
Speaking of Hendrix, how's he going with the Royals?

Mundy Raised the White Flag ???

For a start you don't get to play 112 consecutive games if you have ( raised the white flag ) in any of those games.

Please name the Freo coach at that particular game.

He has always been an easy target because people confuse his laconic style with lethargy.

I want to see him in his 250th game for Freo.

A couple of seasons ago, I kept an eye on Mundy for a while, wondering what all the bagging naysayers were on about. Like them, he flew under my radar and I just saw him as a useful link man in the back.

When I actually watched him, I realised they had no idea what they were talking about. He ran with his man all day, often won it out the back, and created some plays for himself to run down the wing. Unfortunately, we did a lot of running down the wing, so not his fault.

He was good, he was quick enough to leave players chasing him, and his hands were pretty clean, as were his feet. The baggers problem is that he didn't make it look hard enough. He lopes, so the pistons don't move as quick. He's like a swan in reverse - all the action is up top.

As for Eric: Self confesses to overplaying, but great technique allows him to get away with it.
Page: The same, but the the technique is shot full of holes. Still a great cacophony though.

Either way, it reminds you they're both human, and Clapton isn't God.

Shane, David Mundy will break the record for consecutive games from debut in The Preliminary Final in 2013.

That's after taking into account three finals each year including Grandys in the next two years.

If we don't make it this year he will break the record in the Grand Final of 2013.
