New low
#304363
I was finishing up my 12 foot paper mache effigy of Phil Read for the derby celebrations and I noticed an article in this morning's Sunday Times that Nissy has requested that the Eagles be given the Anzac Day match at Subiaco Oval next year instead of Fremantle because they've devised some sort of match against Sydney - with a nautical theme.

That bloke has done some weaselling in his life but this has to be a low point even by what passes for his standards.

Maybe Nissy has helped himself to the doctors prescription pad!

Why can't they build a heritage of their own? Why is it that anything of substance, tradition or meaning has to be stolen or hijacked?

Remember them running around in WA State of Origin jumpers a few years ago?

Outside of waving a jacket when they beat Essendon, what have they got?

Well said Hypen. I would've thought that the 2006 match against Sydney would be something the AwFL would hope no one would look into too much, let alone celebrate with a boatload of who-knows-what.

Ah, so they've found someone else's good idea and instead of coming up with their own, decided to rip it.

Just when you think they can't sink any lower.

Oh, but it will amongst the budgie crowd who have no idea about anything else.

They'll get their Sydney tribute game (hopefully in Geraldton) and you watch idiot budgie fans (I know, one word is redundant) accuse us of 'copying' their idea with the Les Hall match. Mark these words people ....

OK, so here's my idea for the OOFTIT's ANZAC game against Sydney (commemorating the sinking of the HMAS Sydney, apparently).
AFL hire an aircraft carrier. Load on both teams and all their supporters. Go on out over the newly discovered site of the SYDNEY'S sinking. Play the game. Winners have a party as the ship travels back to port. Losers and supporters (OOFTITs obviously) are thrown overboard with one historically significant liferaft to swim to shore.
What do you think?

Why defile the site of HMAS Sydney with that rabble?

Better idea is to take 'em a few hundred k's past Rotto and then pull the plug on 'em.
