A couple of ripper phrasings from Patrick as he continues to highlight the failings of the AFL hierarchy:

Already morons within the game claim AFL football is soft, no more physical than netball and basketball. They point to rule changes that have been introduced to restrict head and neck injuries, the hands-in-the-back rule in marking contests is considered effete. They are the rants of the brain dead.

And a little further on...

Then, worse, any sort of contact is acceptable against a player who does not even have the ball. While Akermanis and Ladson had just touched the ball when collected, poor Colin Sylvia was simply in pursuit of an opponent when Josh Kennedy ran the length of this year's Stawell Gift to bump Sylvia and break his jaw.

How fresh. I look forward to his columns on political correctness and how text messaging is ruining the English language.

He is a complete wally, no doubt.

But I can't help liking the way he tries to get an egurl hung drawn and quartered. Criticise me if you will, I just can't help but like that bit.

What concerns me is the lack of understanding as to how extra interchange players impacts the speed of the game by coaches like Mick Malthouse.

The pace of the game is tearing hamstrings from the bone and resulting in dangerous high speed collisions. There is a dichotomy between the number of players available to rotate and the pace of the game. And every time a player gets seriously injured because of the pace of the game we get a call for an increased interchange bench which is the cause of the problem in the first place.

It's a self compounding circular problem - no more interchange players it is stuffing the game!

How many other codes allow you to take players on and off at will?

I understand this is not news to you guys but why does Malthouse still bang on about increasing the bench?

I'm pretty sure Churchill was the 1st one to call for the extended bench

We will fight them from the benches...
